Race Report
Green flag, Scott McLaughlin gets the jump and he’s clear into turn one.
Lap 8, Katherine Legge and Ed Carpenter tangle and Legge is in the wall. The caution is out.
Lap 18, Conor Daly spins after contact with Kyle Kirkwood. Caution for derbis.
Lap 35, Will Power leads Malukas.
Lap 44, Pato O’Ward has lost an engine and he heads to the garage under green. He’s in the championship battle and this will be a tough night.
Lap 86, Kyffin Simpson backs it into the wall. The caution is out.
Green, Power leads Malukas and McLaughlin.
Lap 134, Power, McLaughlin, Rossi and others head for the pit lane. Marcus Ericsson leads Scott Dixon and these cars are on a different pit strategy.
Lap 153, Marcus Ericsson has an engine issue. He heads to the pit lane as the crew is working to fix it.
Lap 195
Lap 195, Scott Dixon pits for what he hopes will be his final stop. He’ll try to make it from here.
Lap 196, race leader McLaughlin works heavy lap traffic. Josef Newgarden pulls right to his gearbox! Newgarden runs wide and he’s in the marbles! Newgarden spins off turn two and the caution is out.
With that caution, Dixon is trapped two laps down. He’ll get one of them back before the restart.
McLaughlin pits. Power stays out and takes the lead but he’ll still need to pit.
Green, Power leads Malukas and McLaughlin.
Power to the pit lane.
Lap 218, Malukas pits from 3rd for his final stop. McLaughlin leads Newgarden by 2.7 seconds.
22 to go
22 to go, McLaughlin and Newgarden are the only two cars on the lead lap. Herta runs 3rd.
21 to go, Malukas looks under Power in the battle for 4th. Power closes the door and they’re out of room. Malukas backs it hard into the outside wall and the caution is out.
McLaughlin and Newgarden head for the pit lane. This will put 7 cars on the lead lap. Newgarden wins the race to the pit exit!
Green with 10 to go, Rossi climbs over the back of Will Power and he’s launched into the air! The red flag is out but both drivers climb from the car.
Green, Newgarden leads McLaughlin by four car lengths into turn one!
5 to go, Linus Lundqvist works inside Herta off turn two. Lundqvist to 3rd.
