Kyle Larson hints at new NASCAR playoff format

NASCAR previously stated they were considering a new format

NASCAR playoff format has been criticized this season more than ever before.

Joey Logano was eliminated from the playoffs early. However, a penalty issued to Alex Bowman after the finish bumped Logano back into the playoff battle.

Logano went on to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series title.

Kyle Larson won 6 races throughout the season, more than any other driver. However, he was unable to advance into the championship race.

Kyle Larson hints at a new NASCAR format

“I know we had one of the best, if not the best season,” Larson said.

“We led the series in most every category. So really proud of the team and their hard work. And I think we left some out on the table, too.”

“So I’m excited about next year and hopefully we can continue to evolve and get stronger as a team and, yeah, win some more races, lead more laps.”

Larson added, “And, who knows what the new format will be. So maybe it’ll benefit us somehow.”

NASCAR recently commented on the playoff format

In Early November, NASCAR’s COO Steve O’Donnell spoke to the playoff format in the annual State of the Sport address.

“So the format is one thing, right?” O’Donnell said.

“But playoffs, I think we’re not going to go away from playoffs. So we read fans and everything. So we will, as we always do, and Steve has led us to this — we’ll absolutely look at what form the playoffs take in the off-season.”
