Ryan Preece was handed a penalty by NASCAR for crashing Ty Gibbs; Kyle Busch was not penalized for crashing John Hunter Nemechek
Over the weekend, NASCAR raced at Texas Motor Speedway. There were multiple on-track incidents that NASCAR reviewed.
Ryan Preece didn’t like the way he was being raced by Ty Gibbs and made that clear over the team radio. Moments later, he ended up behind Gibbs and put him into the wall.

NASCAR has since issued a steep penalty. Preece has been docked 25 points and fined $50,000.
Coming to the white flag, Kyle Busch was involved in a similar incident. However, nothing has come of that in the weekly penalty report.
Dale Earnhardt Jr doesn’t like it…
Dale Earnhardt Jr comments
“Just seeing the news that was dropped about NASCAR penalizing Ryan Preece for what he did Sunday during the race,” Dale Earnhardt Jr stated via X.
“No penalty for Kyle Busch. We put out a video on our thoughts on that. I didn’t think either one would get penalized.”
“But, having not read a ton into the Preece penalty, I’m going to assume it was because he all but admitted to what he was going to do.”
“I honestly don’t agree with this one. If you’re not going to penalize Kyle, which I didn’t think they would. Then, I don’t think you can penalize Preece.”
“I’m really surprised by this decision. Man, I guess I’ll see what everyone else thinks. Because this is a doozy.”
“An interesting turn of events, I didn’t see this one coming.”
