Race Report
Green, Palou is clear for the lead.
Penalty: Kyffin Simpson will serve a pass through for the a start violation.
Lap 42, Newgarden has a run and he dives inside of Malukas in the battle for 2nd.
Lap 45, Newgarden works heavy lap traffic. Marcus Ericsson has a run off turn two. He dives inside in turn three, Ericsson to 2nd.
Lap 47, Palou has lost momentum with lap cars. Ericsson has a run and he dives inside. Ericsson to the lead!
Lap 56, Palou bangs wheels with Nolan Siegel into turn one. Siegel is in the wall and the caution is out.
Green, Ericsson gets the jump but Newgarden has a run and he dives inside into turn one. They bang wheels. Ericsson leads off turn two.
Lap 114, Graham Rahal wiggles and backs it into the outside wall, caution.
Rain delay
Rain is now falling at the track. The red flag is out.
After a delay, the track has been cleared and we’re ready to restart.
Green, Ericsson leads Collet. Armstrong passes the race leader and he’s now on the tail of the lead lap.
Newgarden clears Collet for 2nd.
Lap 177, Ericsson heads for the pit lane from the race lead. Newgarden takes over the front for now. He’s unlucky to make it from here. Newgarden pits the next lap and he cycles out ahead of Ericsson!
Second rain delay
Lap 197, the caution is out for rain. Dixon and Palou lead the field as they have yet to pit.
After a delay, the cars are rolling again. Dixon pits from the race lead a lap early.
Palou leads most of the field to the pit lane. Palou is out of fuel on the pit lane! Josef Newgarden wins the race to the pit exit!
Green with 48 to go, Newgarden leads Rasmussen and Ericcson.
47 to go, Rasmussen has a run into turn three. Newgarden blocks the inside and Rasmussen looks to the outside. Newgarden clears him off turn four.
46 to go, Rasmussen has momentum into turn one. He dives inside. They nearly touch, Rasmussen is clear for the lead on the inside.
40 to go, Newgarden dives inside of Rasmussen into turn three. Newgarden returns to the lead.
35 to go, Ericsson clears Rasmussen for 2nd.
34 to go, Caio Collet is up in smoke and the caution is out.
Green, Newgarden leads Ericsson off turn two.
6 to go, Newgarden leads Ericsson by 0.7 seconds.
