After the NASCAR race, Noah Gragson was looking to fight Kevin Magnussen
On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced in San Diego, CA. It marked the first event on a new 3.4-mile circuit at Naval Base Coronado.
Kevin Magnussen made his first career NASCAR start in the event. The 33-year-old driver from Denmark has a background in F1 and Sportscar racing.
Early in the race, Noah Gragson and Magnussen played bumper tag. Gragson then started throwing heavy blocks.
With just three laps to go, the two drivers were racing inside the top-20. Again, Gragson threw blocks. Magnussen gave it gas in the center of the corner and drove into the right rear of Gragson.
The No. 4 was sent nose first into the concrete wall. His day ended early.
After the race, Gragson went walking down the pit lane in search of Magnussen. His initial plan was to fight but he was told there would be consequences…

“What I’m most mad about is you’re on our ball field in our ballpark,” Noah Gragson stated via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“We race a 38 race season. You come here on lap 3, jamming it up the inside, running into guys and driving into their doors. Not just myself.”
“You see it with guys in the past. Maybe I’m just a magnet to it. Sage Karam comes to mind. I think they see how much rougher and how much more contact there is over some FIA forms of motorsports.”

“We do have a bit of contact. But, they feel like it’s 10 times more than that. You’re coming into our ballpark and running into us.”
“He hit me super hard into turn 12. After I watched him do it to three other guys. It made me mad.”
“I raced him hard for the rest of the day. I was blocking him because I was over it. Then, he wrecked us.”
“I really wanted to go fight. I was about to throw a punch and I got told right before I got over there that there’s going to be long-term consequences with my job if that was the case.”
This wouldn’t have been the first time Gragson was in a fight on the pit lane after a race. He’s been in many with the most recent being with Ross Chastain in 2023.

Gragson concluded, “It’s a no win situation. We’re not going to deal with that guy, probably ever again. If we do, it will be fun, I’d be excited.”
