Cleetus McFarland is racing in the Gateway Dirt Nationals

Cleetus McFarland and Aaron Reutzel will make their Dirt Late Model debut in the Gateway Dirt Nationals

The Gateway Dirt Nationals is a thrilling dirt track event held in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The temporary 1/5-mile track is built inside The Dome at Americas Center for the Dec 3-5th event.

Cody Sommer is the event promoter. He’s also the owner of Race DRT.

Sommer is putting Cleetus McFarland in his own dirt late model and they’re going bullring racing. In addition, dirt sprint car driver Aaron Reutzel also recently announced that he will be running the Gateway Dirt Nationals as well. Both drivers will make their Dirt Late Model debut.

“I’ll be racing at the Gateway Dirt Nationals,” Cleetus McFarland stated while behind the wheel of a DRT Late Model.

“Come out and see it. It will be my debut so anything could happen.”

Cody Sommer commented during the test, “First couple runs we weren’t too sure if he was going to land on the moon or not. I was actually already getting the rear clip ready.”

McFarland responded, “I’m actually enjoying this thing. It’s pretty cool.”

“Every time I’m on asphalt, I find myself in a drift at some point during the race. Which is the opposite of they want you to do. But, in dirt racing, they want you to drift. So, maybe I was born for this type of racing. I don’t know.”

“Cody hit me up. He actually reached out through Carson Hocevar who raced the event. Cody said, ‘Hey, I own a team too.’ “

Carson Hocevar commented, “Best thing I’ve ever texted you and asked you to race haha!”

McFarland has run one race on dirt. He raced at Bristol Motor Speedway but only turned a few laps.

You should now expect the Gateway Dirt Nationals to sell out completely for 2026.
