NASCAR race results from Daytona International Speedway

The NASCAR Cup Series was scheduled to race last night in Daytona Beach, Florida. Rain has pushed this to a Sunday morning race at the Daytona International Speedway! It’s the regular season finale on the 2.5-mile oval.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 35 (1-35 / 160)

Green flag, Larson ais clear but Logano gives a huge shove to Elliott on the inside, Elliott leads into turn three.

Lap 8, Elliott remains the leader. The outside lane is struggling to build momentum with Larson leading the lane. Christopher Buescher, Alex Bowman, Ty Dillon and Kyle Larson run four wide. Larson and Buescher bang wheels but they all continue.

Lap 16, Larson hits the apron as the car has an issue. Larson heads to the garage.

Lap 21, Hamlin pushes Erik Jones even with Elliott at the front of the field.

Jones and Hamlin clear Elliott and cut to the bottom, Jones now leads the inside lane.

5 to go in stage one, Elliott moves to the outside lane pulls even with Jones. Jones gets loose off turn two with Hamlin on his bumper. Hamlin spins behind him! Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney and Harvick are collected.

More than half the field hits the pit lane.

Green with 1 to go in stage one, Truex Jr pushes Logano clear into turn one. Elliott works to the outside of Logano into turn three.

Joey Logano holds him off and wins stage one at Daytona!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 60 (36-90 / 160)

Logano, Elliott and the rest of the leaders hit the pit lane. Corey LaJoie is handed the lead with Bubba Wallace on his outside.

Green flag on stage two, Erik Jones pushes Wallace clear via the outside lane.

Lap 44, Corey LaJoie fights back on the inside lane to retake the lead. He moves to the top and blocks the outside lane.

Lap 46, Erik Jones works by LaJoie, Jones returns to the lead.

Lap 64, Byron gets tight and stacks up the inside lane. Hamlin is shoved to the lead.

Lap 78, Hamlin and the rest of the Toyotas head for the pit lane. There’s only four of them.

Lap 79, most of the field heads for the pit lane. Chevy and Ford pit together and it’s chaos at the pit entry. Logano wins the race to pit exit.

Lap 81, Logano is moved out of line. Elliott takes over the lead as the Toyota line pulls even on the outside with Kyle Busch leading the charge.

Lap 82, Reddick moves up to catch the bumper of Kyle Busch. Reddick takes over the lead with a push from Busch.

6 to go in stage two, Kyle Busch works to the outside of Reddick. Hamlin shoves Busch to the lead.

Busch leads the field to the pit lane. McDowell wins the race to the pit exit. Rain is in the area.

Pit Penalty: Kyle Busch will drop to the rear after he was too fast on pit road.

Green flag on stage three, Logano shoves McDowell clear into turn one.

59 to go, Reddick hooks McDowell. As he bounces off the outside wall, Truex Jr, Byron, Chastain and LaJoie are collected.

Green, Bowman shoves Logano to the lead on the inside lane. Reddick pulls back even on the outside lane. Reddick takes over the lead and begins blocking both lanes.

47 to go, a third lane has formed on the outside lane. Alex Bowman takes over the lead with a push from Stenhouse Jr.

36 to go

36 to go, Logano dives to the inside with a push from Briscoe. Briscoe then moves to the outside of Logano! Briscoe leads the outside lane with an aggressive move. The no. 14 of Briscoe is turned by Bowman off turn four! Dillon, Wallace and others are collected. The caution is out.

Most of the field hits the pit lane. Justin Haley and Erik Jones stay out as weather is in the area.

Green, Justin Haley leads into turn one as he throws a huge block on Erik Jones. Jones gets turned and he collects Logano! The caution is back out.

Green, Almirola shoves Haley to the lead.

25 to go, Daniel Suarez has a run on Haley. Suarez works to his outside and Almirola shoves Suarez to the lead.

23 to go

23 to go, most of the leaders crash all at once! The track is wet! 10+ cars are involved. Austin Dillon surfaces as the leader.

The rain is here! NASCAR throws the red flag and pulls the field to the pit lane.

Several hours later, the track is dry. The race is set to be resumed.

Green flag, Truex Jr shoves Austin Cindric to the lead.

10 to go, Cindric leads Austin Dillon as 6 cars have broken away from the pack.

6 to go, Cindric leads Austin Dillon, Gragson and Reddick. It’s down to a four car breakaway.

4 to go, Landon Cassill leads a second pack, six cars deep. They’re closing quickly on the lead pack.

3 to go, Cindric gets loose with Dillon on his bumper. Cindric nearly spins and Dillon takes over the lead.

1 to go, Dillon leads Reddick and Cody Ware as the two groups are now together.
