The Battle at Bristol Motor Speedway takes place this Saturday. It’s not often this website covers football news. However, when football comes to our favorite race track it’s going to get a bit of coverage.

Battle at Bristol Motor Speedway - Bristol Football Game StadiumBRISTOL, Tenn. – ESPN officials announced today that college football’s longest-running and most-celebrated pregame show, ESPN College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, will originate from a NASCAR facility for the first time in history when the show airs live from Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Saturday, Sept. 10 (9 a.m.-Noon, ET) in advance of the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol, featuring Virginia Tech vs. the University of Tennessee.

Hosted by Rece Davis, who is joined by analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack, ESPNCollege GameDay will be located at the Earnhart East Parking Lot next to the “The Last Great Colosseum.” During the last 19 days the facility has been transformed from a world-class racetrack into a state-of-the-art football stadium.

ESPN made the announcement today at historic Lambeau Field in Wisconsin when a special Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol-designed NASCAR stock car arrived on the set with Bristol Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Jerry Caldwell.

Bristol, Tenn. is the 75th different city to host ESPN College GameDay, a winner of six Emmy awards.

ESPN College GameDay is a free event. Fans do not need a ticket to the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol in order to attend ESPN College GameDay. If traveling through Bristol Motor Speedway property to and from the ESPN College GameDay set, your game ticket will be required upon entering and exiting the perimeter security check point.

A: No. The ESPN College GameDay show is a free event. Game tickets are not required to attend this event.  If traveling through Bristol Motor Speedway property to and from the ESPNCollege GameDay set, your game ticket will be required upon entering and exiting the perimeter security check point.

 

Q: Do I have to have a ticket to attend this event?

A: No. However, still photography, and/or video filming will be taking place in connection with ESPN. College GameDay attendees will grant ESPN use of your likeness without compensation and relieves ESPN, Bristol Motor Speedway, Earhart Campground and all related parties from any and all liability. ESPN, Bristol Motor Speedway, Earhart Campground and related parties will assume no responsibility for any injury to your person or damage or loss to your personal property.

 

Q: When does ESPN College GameDay begin?

A: ESPN College GameDay officially starts at 9 a.m. EDT. The show ends at noon EDT.

Fans should arrive no earlier for access to the pit before 7 a.m. ET. Fans entering the pit will be checked by a security wand.

A: ESPN College GameDay will take place at Bristol Motor Speedway’s FanZone in the Earnhart East location.

A: To access Earhart East parking lot, you must have a pre-purchased camping/parking pass. The Earhart parking lot opens at 7 a.m. This area is SOLD-OUT and passes are no longer available.

A: Yes. However, all signs/posters must be approved prior to entering the ESPN College GameDay perimeter. No vulgar or inappropriate signage is permitted. No signs on a stick. No pens, pencils, markers or dry erase board. Throwing of objects is prohibited.

 

Q: Can signs include advertising, promotional messages?

A: No. The ESPN College GameDay perimeter prohibits solicitation of any kind. This includes advertisements, political/religious messages and promotion of any type including web sites (.com, .net, .org, etc.)

 

Q: Can I carry in a bag or backpack to ESPN College GameDay?

A: No. Bags, purses, backpacks or carry-ins of any type are NOT permitted into the ESPNCollege GameDay perimeter.
