Kyle Busch details the battle with Larson for the win at Bristol

Kyle Busch went to victory lane after a battle with Larson and some help from his arch nemesis

Kyle Larson mentioned that he was tired of getting beat by Kyle Busch at Bristol.

Larson’s car was dominant for most of the day. He had the car to beat. He spun himself across the nose of Ryan Newman. That was hardly a speed bump as Larson found himself back in the lead just a few laps later.

With 30 or so laps remaining, Kyle Busch was about to blow a tire. Instead, Brad Keselowski was the one to blow a tire. That was the break Kyle Busch needed to get to the front.

In the final run, Larson was too loose to hold it on the bottom. That allowed Busch to get to his rear bumper and push him up the hill as Larson again watched Kyle Busch drive to the win at Bristol.

Is there any specific thing that you feel like you have an edge with on Larson at Bristol specifically?

“No, I don’t think so,” Kyle Busch says after winning at Bristol.

“There was an Xfinity Series race one time, a couple years ago. It was one of the Dash for Cash races and we were battling through the stages. We were just whipping through lap traffic. He had me beat that day. I don’t remember what happened but it was fun.”

“Larson and I are pretty much neck and neck. It just seems like whoever can get out front seems to have it.”

“Larson was out front today at the end. It just seemed like he was a little bit too loose. So, it comes down to perfection and having to have your race car be perfect. I’m not so sure he had that there at the end.”

“I wouldn’t say mine was perfect either. But, mine was a lot closer than his was.”

Ironically, Kyle Busch was also saved by his arch nemesis, Brad Keselowski. As Kyle had a front tire wearing out he needed a caution. That caution came when Brad Keselowski blew a tire and went into the wall.

Bob Pockrass: Does Brad Keselowski go up a notch in your book?

“That’s pushing it too far Bob,” Kyle Busch says.

“I kinda felt bad for him. That certainly helped our cause so that was much appreciated. Let’s just go with that.”

Kyle Busch has 7 Bristol wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. He has 9 more wins at Bristol in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Finally, he has 5 wins in the NASCAR Truck Series. He Bristol win count is now 21.
