2016 Gateway Dirt Nationals Results – Saturday – Dirt Modifieds – St. Louis

Tommie Seets Jr tops the 2016 Gateway Dirt Nationals results sheet in modified division.

The first winner of the Gateway Dirt Nationals Modifieds is Tommie Seets Jr. He stole the show in front of a packed Edward Jones Dome.

Seets was the benefactor after several leaders dropped out of the race. Mike Harrison led the early part of the feature. However, after contact in turn 2 it followed with a self-spin in turn 3. Unsure if something broke after the contact.

The lead was an unlucky place to be in the modified race. The next leader to drop out of the race was Michael Long. His rear suspension caved to the ruts and was forced to exit to the pits, from the lead.

The moister put into the track over the weekend had started to backfire. The water truck was the cause of fantastic racing on Friday.

However, tonight that same moister started to take a toll on the track and on many racecar parts. It was still great 3-wide racing.

It’s wasn’t as great as Friday night but last night was near perfect. It would be unfair to compare tonight against a prefect night like Friday.

Kenny Wallace was offered a provisional starting spot in the dirt modified A Main. He finished 7th, in the B Main, the top 6 transferred to the A Main. However, the Gateway Dirt Nationals just added two cars to the field. Transferring 7, instead of 6.

Putting Kenny Wallace at the tail of the A Main was a very smart move by the staff. Many racing fans came to see their own Kenny Wallace in the A Main. He finished 10th.

Tommie Seets Jr was presented with a $10,000 check from event promotor Cody Sommer for his win.
