Smithfield Foods makes move to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2018
Smithfield Foods have singed a new deal with Stewart-Haas Racing. They will leave their current team, Richard Petty Motorsports.
It’s been a rumor for several days. However, less than an hour ago, it was confirmed.
Richard Petty Motorsports had a handshake deal with Smithfield to return in 2018. That deal apparently wasn’t put in concrete. As RPM began talking of bringing in a new driver, Bubba Wallace to replace Aric Almirola. Smithfield began looking elsewhere.

There’s no confirmation of which Stewart-Haas driver will pick up the new sponsor. Kurt Busch is a free-agent in 2018, though SHR has said they have intentions pick him up next season. Additionally, Danica Patrick is seeking sponsorship.
Smithfield Foods posted the following update to it’s facebook page.
