Tonight, it’s night 2 of 3 at Knoxville Raceway. The final night of preliminary action in the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals. The winner of tonight’s program will had back to the pits with an extra $7,000.

Qualifying
Mike Marlar did it in a backup car. He set overall quick time at 17.511 seconds. Jonathan Davenport was quickest in group B with a 17.612 second lap.
Heat 1
Dave Eckrich to the early lead. Mike Marlar is at the back fighting for space at the entry to turn 3. Heavy left rear damage for the pole sitter. No caution.
Eckrich has checked out on the field. Caution.
Green. Rodney Sanders is there. He has a run off turn 2. He has a fender down the back. Eckrich leaves him a land on exit. Sanders completes the pass in turn 3.
Marlar to 2nd. He’s chasing down the leader. Trouble. The leader is smoking and moving slipping to Marlar. The 157 has a run on the bottom off turn 2. He looks to the inside in turn 3.
New leader, Mike Marlar. He drives off to the win.
Heat 2
Hudson O’Neal takes the early lead. Jason Feger puts pressure on early for the lead.
Hudson O’Neal holds the position and drives away. He wins heat 2.
Heat 3
Tyler Bruening and Randy Timms lead the field to green. But it’s Shannon Babb the comes out with the lead.
But the crowd has their eye at the back. Brandon Sheppard passed 5 cars in about a lap. He’s already up to 3rd.
As Babb bounces off the cushion, Sheppard hits the inside berm. He’s up to 2nd. Babb drops to the bottom, he might hear him coming.
Sheppard still gets a run off turn 4 and takes the inside line away. New leader, Brandon Sheppard. He drives off to the heat 3 win.
Heat 4
Bobby Pierce and Ryan Gustin lead the field to green. Bobby Pierce comes out with the early lead. He drops to the bottom.
Chase Junghans is coming. He’s up to 2nd. The head boss to tail into turn 3. The cross, Pierce low, Junghans high. He gets a run on the top and completes the pass in turn 1.
Junghans drives off to win heat 4.
Heat 5
Boom Briggs leads early. Most of the field stacks up around the bottom. That’s good news for Josh Richards. He carries speed to the top in turn 3. Richards bounces off the cushion and passes a handful.
Tyler Erb gets sudeways off turn 4, just ahead of Richards. A big road block, Richards cuts it to the bottom, slices 3 wide and picks up another spot.
He’s up to 2nd in no time. Briggs continues to roll the bottom, Richards up top.
To the outside off turn 2. New leader, Josh Richards. He drives off to win heat 5.
Heat 6
Jeremiah Hurst and Jesse Stovall lead the field to green. Stovall takes the early lead.
Kent Robinson is hanging with the leader. Darrell Lanigan is catching them both. Lanigan to 2nd.
Lanigan bounces off the cushion in turn 2. He has a fender on him at the exit. Even into turn 3. New leader Darrell Lanigan.
Lanigan drives off to win the final heat race of the night.
C Main
Dennis Erb Jr won the C Main.
B Main
Don O’Neal won the B Main.
Main Event
25 laps around Knoxville Raceway. Rodney Sanders and Tim McCreadie line up on the front row.
Green flag, false restart. McCreadie jumped, let off and hit the gas again. Multiple cars hit the pit lane. Earl Pearson Jr has the hood off.
Green flag, McCreadie his the gas up on the cushion. Sheppard is all the way on the bottom. Big gap between the front row cars at the restart line. They’re even at the flag stand.
McCreadie takes the lead out of turn 2 and into turn 3. Sheppard dives to the bottom. New leader, Brandon Sheppard.
McCreadie got the message. He moves down to the bottom. Sheppard begins to drive away.
15 to go, McCreadie is chasing down Sheppard. They are both glued to the bottom but McCreadie has turned a 10 car length gap into just two car lengths.
11 to go, Boom Briggs is around. Caution.
Green flag, Sheppard goes right to the top. The bottom in wide open, McCreadie takes it.
McCreadie is pulling him in turn 1-2. He can’t pull along side down the back. He tries again. It sticks! Even down the back and into turn 3. New leader, Tim McCreadie.
7 to go, caution.
Green, Mike Marlar is coming. The pole sitter hits the cushion and drives around Sheppard for 2nd.
He sets sights on Tim McCreadie. He there. Side by side for the lead.
3 to go, Marlar slams the cushion in turn 3. So hard the car jumps to the right. Still on the gas, he pulls in front of McCreadie. New leader, Mike Marlar.
Mike Marlar drives away. He wins at Knoxville Raceway!
