Kenny Wallace talks NASCAR budgets and dirt modified budgets
“NASCAR’s in the same boat. They’re trying to save money,” Wallace states on ‘The Late Shift’ via Sirius XM NASCAR radio.
“You know, we all gotta be careful what we’re wishing for because we’re all wanting to get rid of human being’s. We gotta be careful. We’re starting to get rid of everything. I think that’s a good thing. I think we can cut a lot of fat.”
Kenny Wallace can certainly relate to the NASCAR budget crisis. He recently shut down his dirt program and sold his Impressive chassis. A new one is already on the way.
Kenny Wallace Dirt Modified
“Listen, I blew through my budget this year,” Kenny Wallace discusses his dirt modified racing budget.
My dumbass forgot the more you race, the more you spend.
“I always have enough money to run 50 dirt races. Buddy, I run 70. My dumbass forgot the more you race, the more you spend.”
“I’m not broke as a joke right now. But, like I told my crew chief Joey Walsh. I said, ‘Joey, take your credit card and put it in your wallet and don’t use it no more. We’re done.’ ”
Kenny Wallace finished 4th at the DIRTcar Nationals in Eldora Speedway in early October. Shortly after he returned, the Impressive Race Cars chassis went up for sale at $14,000. That chassis collected 7 wins this year.
A social media post was all it took. The next day it was sold. He already has a new one on the way as he begins preparation for 2018.
“That’s the way those NASCAR guys are thinking. The money, I mean they’re just throwing money out. Like it’s insane right now,” Kenny Wallace gets back to the NASCAR budgets.
“I know it’s a free enterprise and I get all that shit. But, even the wealthy people are saying ‘Woah! Damn it, we’re exhausted’ ”
