It’s the final qualifying session as a full-time driver for at least 3 drivers. Dale Earnhardt Jr, Matt Kenseth and Danica Patrick have all announced retirement for the 2018 season.
Round 1
Kevin Harvick is the first car on track. He’s ready to go. 31.103, it’s the fastest time we’ve seen all day.
15 minutes remain, Martin Truex Jr put it on track for the first time. He beats all 8 drivers that have turned a lap, by .4 seconds. Truex turned a 30.743.
12 minutes remain, Jimmie Johnson made multiple trips through inspection. He just cleared the final stage of the LIS.
8 minutes remain, all Championship 4 drivers have now turned a lap. Truex (1st), Busch (2nd), Harvick (4th) and Keselowski (9th). They will all transfer to the next round.
Martin Truex Jr wins round 1 qualifying. Danica Patrick is 25th, she missed the transfer spot by one position.

Round 2
Dale Earnhardt Jr transfered into round 2. However, will he run? The #88 team made an engine change in practice. They will start at the tail either way. Pit selection is up for grabs in his final qualifying run. However, tire wear is important. He could start the race on fresher tires if he elects not to run.
Kevin Harvick is yet again the first car on track. Truex follows, he takes the numbers 1 spot.
7 minutes remain, Brad Keselowski is 10th of the 11 cars. His teammate is the only car slower thus far.
Martin Truex Jr wins round 2. Brad Keselowski just barely squeaks in, he’s tied for 12th with McMurray. Keselowski wins the tie breaker for the transfer spot.

Round 3
All 4 Championship 4 drivers have transferred to the final round.
Kevin Harvick is out first, Truex follows. Harvick gets loose! Harvick has to lift, that will kill his lap time. Truex to the top of the board.
Kyle Busch chases the car up the banking, but he stays in the throttle. He’s running higher than anyone but he’s still in the green.
Denny Hamlin is out last. Hamlin to the top! Harvick went out again, but he didn’t start his lap in time.
