If Billy Moyer Jr misses a race due to the birth of his kid, the WoOLMS are working with him to keep him on the tour
Billy Moyer Jr has elected to with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. This year, any driver who runs full-time with the series is considered an Outlaw regular.
As a regular, you receive a bonus check from the series from each night of racing. It doesn’t matter if you’re first in points, if you miss a race you don’t receive the bonus payment.
Billy Moyer Jr has a daughter on the way. She’s due around April 20th. That same weekend the Outlaws have scheduled an event at Whynot Motorsports Park.
However, these are extra special circumstances. The Outlaws have told Billy Moyer Jr that if he has to miss that race due to the birth of his daughter, they’ll still score him with last place in either the A or B main. Props to them for making that call!
You have a kid on the way. A daughter I believe?
“Yup, she’ll be here in April.”
Let’s just say… Hypothetically, you’re positioned 1st place in points come April. Then, you’re at the track when you get the call. What do you do?
“The doctor’s going to try to work with me here. She’s due April 20th which is right on top of two Outlaw races. The week after that and the three weeks before, there’s no races.”
“I’m going to try to shoot for around April 10th-ish. But, if I’m leading that thing and the doctor tells me, ‘She could come at any time.’ Then, I’m going to have to get hardship points, last place points, B Main points. I can’t miss the birth of my child.”
I don’t know. If I’m in 1st place, I’m not going to drop off the tour. I think I’d mess up in that situation.
“Well, we’re not going to drop off. But, we’re going to have to miss that race.”
Well, how would you get points and/or maintain perfect attendance?
“They’ve got a deal. I mean, I already talked to them. They’re not giving me very much. At least they’ll give me either last place points or B Main points.”
Oh ok, now I see what you were saying.
“So, that’s just like me running dead last.”
That’s a little different story.
“If they weren’t giving me anything… Then, it would make me where I’m not very smart.”
That’s really cool that they’re working with you like that.
“Yeah, they’ll give me something. I hope it’s like I ran last, both nights. I can handle that.”
“It’s just, you know, I can’t miss the birth of my child. Life’s more important than that.”
The World of Outlaws tour begins of February 9th at Screven Motor Speedway. Then they head to Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Nationals.
