Q&A with Kyle Larson

The Coca-Cola Racing Family is welcoming its newest member Kyle Larson, a 25-year-old Japanese-American NASCAR driver recently named to the 2017 Forbes 30 Under 30 sports list.

Larson, arguably the fastest-rising young star in NASCAR, joins the iconic Coca-Cola Racing Family in a commemorative year as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018.

We caught up with Kyle ahead of the NASCAR season for a quick Q&A:

What does it mean to be part of the Coca-Cola Racing Family?
I’ve been able to race a few Coke cars the last few years, and it’s really cool to now be part of the family. Coca-Cola is such an iconic brand, and I’m proud to be a part of their team.

First memory of Coca-Cola at a race track?
One of the first things I can remember about Coke in NASCAR is Ryan Newman or Tony Stewart holding a bottle when he’d get interviewed or get out of the car after a race.

If you weren’t racing, what would would be doing?
These days, if I’m not racing, I’m either hanging out with Owen (son) and Katelyn (wife), or playing golf. But, if I wasn’t racing anything, I don’t know what I’d be doing. I’ve been racing since I was a kid, so it’s kind of all I’ve ever known and all I’ve wanted to do.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I really like a lot of lettuce on my burgers, tacos and whatever else I put it on.

The Daytona 500 is right around the corner. How does it feel to be part of the 60th running of the race?
To be a part of any Daytona 500 is a cool experience, and it’ll be neat to be driving in the 60th running of the race. It’s amazing to see how far our sport has come since that first race.
