NASCAR iRacing Series Results: March 22, 2020 (Homestead-Miami Speedway) Video

The coronavirus outbreak has the sporting industry on lockdown. Homestead-Miami Speedway was scheduled to host the NASCAR field this weekend in Miami. Instead, they’ll be circling the digital version of the track.

Drivers have dusted off their simulator rigs and are set to entertain NASCAR fans across the globe. The Dixie Vodka 150 will feature 100 laps.

Current NASCAR Cup Series drivers: Alex Bowman, Austin Dillon, Brad Keselowski, Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher, Christopher Bell, Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Erik Jones, Garrett Smithley, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, John Hunter Nemechek, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Landon Cassill, Matt DiBenedetto, Parker Kligerman, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Ross Chastain, Ryan Preece, Timmy Hill, Ty Dillon and William Byron.

Former NASCAR Cup Series drivers: Bobby Labonte and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

NXS and NTS drivers: Anthony Alfredo, Austin Cindric, Chase Briscoe, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Justin Allgaier, Justin Haley, Myatt Snider, Jesse Iwuji, Ryan Truex, Stewart Friesen and Ty Majeski.

The setups in this race are fixed. Everyone is running the same setup.

Drivers will have two full resets. If they crash, they can hit the pit lane and get a full reset with a new car, removing all damage.

Garrett Smithley will start from the pole position. William Byron will start from the outside pole.

Race Report

Green, Garrett Smithley gets the jump. William Byron crosses under him off turn two and leads into turn three.

Austin Cindric spins off turn four and collects Anthony Alfredo. The caution is out.

Green, William Byron gets the jump.

Lap 14, several cars are crashed into turn one. Justin Allgaier pinched John Hunter Nemechek into the outside wall at the flag stand and they both spun across the track. Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch and others are collected.

Pit stops

The field heads to the pit lane. Denny Hamlin is out first with two drivers, Byron is off 2nd with four new tires.

Green, Hamlin leads off turn two.

Lap 20, the leaders are coming quickly on Jimmie Johnson. They split the slow car of Johnson. But, others aren’t able to avoid him. 10+ cars are involved.

Johnson said he thought they were under caution. That’s what caused that mess.

Green, Hamlin leads into turn one.

Lap 27, Hamlin leads as Ross Chastain and William Byron run side by side for 2nd just behind him.

Byron looks to the inside of Chastain into turn one. Chastain pulls down to block. They run out of room and Byron and turns Chastain! The caution is out.

Pit stops

Most of the leaders head for the pit lane. Several cars stay out, Dale Earnhardt Jr inherits the lead.

Green, Dale Earnhardt Jr leads into turn one. Timmy Hill slots in 2nd.

Lap 38, several cars are around down the back stretch. Kurt Busch pinched Chase Briscoe into the outside wall. They bounce off the wall and several cars are collected. The caution is back out.

Pit stops

The leaders head for the pit lane. William Byron will lead them to the restart as he stayed out.

Green, William Byron leads.

Lap 45, Erik Jones is around. He bounced off the outside wall and turned himself across the nose of Alfredo.

Green, Byron leads Hill into turn one.

Hill runs wide in turn one. He builds momentum and crosses under Byron for the lead off turn two. Byron crosses him back.

Lap 52, Hill and Byron run even into turn one. Hill takes the lead on the inside. Byron’s tires are 6 laps older.

Lap 58, Garrett Smithley is on the bumper of Timmy Hill for the race lead.

Spin behind them. Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott fight for space into turn one. Elliott is around the caution is out.

Pit stops

Chastain takes fuel only and he’s first off. Chase Briscoe is the only car to stay out. Smithley is off third with four tires.

Green, Briscoe leads into turn one.

Lap 67, Timmy Hill is on the bumper of Garrett Smithley down the front stretch. Smithley gets a push to the lead as they hit turn one.

Lap 69, Alex Bowman is around and the caution is out. Byron looked to his inside, Bowman pulled down to block and turned himself around. Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr and others are collected. The caution is out.

Green, Smithley leads Hill into turn one.

23 to go, the caution is out once again. Clint Bowyer came down on Ryan Preece into turn one and Bowyer was turned into the outside wall.

Pit stops

The top 13 cars stay out. Denny Hamlin will restart 14th, the first car with new tires.

Green, Smithley noses ahead on the bottom as Hill runs wide on the outside.

15 to go, Kyle Larson is around and several cars are collected. No caution.

13 to go, Smithley and Hill have checked out. Dale Earnhardt Jr is a second back, in 3rd. Earnhardt is on the charge with fresher tires.

10 to go

9 to go, Hill drives to the inside of Smithley and he clears him for the lead. Dale Earnhardt Jr has caught the bumper of the leaders, he follows Hill and takes 2nd.

8 to go, Dale Earnhardt Jr has a look inside of Hill for the lead but he lifts.

6 to go, Earnhardt Jr has a run off turn four. They rose side by side into turn one. They remain side by side and Earnhardt clears him off turn four.

4 to go, Hill crosses under Earnhardt and they’re back to side-by-side racing for the lead.

3 to go, Chase Briscoe has a look on the inside to make it 3 wide for the lead, he lifts. Hamlin moves to 3rd.

2 to go, Hamlin is on the bumper of Earnhardt Jr into turn one. Hamlin pushes Earnhardt Jr to the lead.

Final lap, Dale Earnhardt Jr leads Hamlin. Dale Jr blocks the inside and Hamlin pulls even on the outside lane off turn two.

They bang doors off turn four! Earnhardt Jr spins to the infield and Denny Hamlin takes the win!
