Race Report
Green, Romain Grosjean leads into turn one. Jack Harvey looks to the inside of Newgarden for 2nd. Conor Daly and Simon Pageaud bang wheels behind them. Several cars run through the grass behind them into turn one, Daly has stalled.
Dixon hits the pits. He’ll be charging from the tail of the field to salvage points.
Green, Grosjean leads Harvey on the single file restart.
Lap 14, Harvey hits the pit lane. Grosjean leads Newgarden by 6 seconds.
Lap 25, Grosjean pits from the race lead. As he exits, Grosjean leads Harvey by 2 seconds.
Lap 39, Jack Harvey exits the pit lane but he runs in the grass with a flat right rear. Lots of time lost for Harvey as he returns to the pit lane for another time.
Lap 40, Grosjean bangs wheels with Jimmie Johnson as he puts him a lap down.
Halfway
Lap 44, Gosjean to the pit lane. As he exits the pit lane, Rinus VeeKay is all over him on hot tires. VeeKay looks to his inside, clear. That will be the pass for the lead after the cycle.
Lap 61, Rinus VeeKay pits from the race lead.
Rossi and Herta have lost power but they’re still running.
Lap 68, Colton Herta turns in on Marcus Ericsson and Herta is shoved off the track and into the grass.
Lap 70, rain drops are in the area. VeeKay leads Grosjean by 7 seconds.
10 to go, VeeKay leads Grosjean by 9 seconds.
2 to go, Grosjean has closed the gap to 6 seconds.
