NASCAR All-Star Open Results: June 13, 2021 (Texas Motor Speedway)

Texas race results for the NASCAR Cup Series

It’s NASCAR All-Star night for the first time at Texas Motor Speedway. First, 22 cars will line up in the All-Star Open in an attempt to earn a starting position in the All-Star Race and race for $1,000,000.

The All-Star Open is a 50 lap race with three stages. The winner of each stage will start at the back of the All-Star field later tonight. Additionally, one driver will start the race based on a fan vote.

Ross Chastain failed pre-race inspection due to a part that NASCAR didn’t like. He was scheduled to start 5th and now he’ll be starting this race from the rear.

All-Star Open
Stage 1 – Report

Lap: 20 (1-20 / 50)

Green, Reddick spins the tires on the inside and Buescher gets the jump on the outside. Dillon has a huge push from DiBenedetto into turn one and Reddick leads.

Penalty: Chris Buescher has been handed a penalty for jumping the start and beating the leader to the start/finish line. Austin Cindric has been handed a penalty for changing lanes before the start finish line.

Lap 2, Ricky Stenhouse Jr gets pushed in turn three by Corey LaJoie. They both run wide and loses several positions.

Lap 4, Bubba Wallace spins on his own in turn two, caution. Buscher and Cindric will be able to serve their penalty under the yellow.

Lap 4

Green, Reddick gets the jump on the inside. Chris Buescher spins in turn three with help from Stenhouse Jr, caution.

Green, Reddick leads in turn one with a push from Erik Jones. Jones enters a lane high in turn three, he washes up the banking in the traction compound and doors Briscoe in the process. Jones spins and collects Suarez.

Green, Reddick and Chastain run side by side into turn one. Chastain side drafts in turn two. They bang fenders down the back stretch and remain side by side in turn three.

Final lap in stage one, Chastain clears him on the outside in turn one.

Ross Chastain wins stage one at Texas Motor Speedway! He’ll drop out of this race and transfer into the All-Star race.

Stage 2 – Report

Lap: 20 (21-40 / 50)

Green flag on stage two, Reddick is clear on the bottom in turn one. Cindric and DiBenedetto run side by side behind him.

13 to go in stage two, Cindric throws a big block on DiBenedetto but it doesn’t work as DiBenedetto forces his way to the inside. DiBenedetto takes over 2nd.

10 to go in stage two, Reddick leads DiBenedetto by 10 car lengths.

7 to go, Almirola is all over the bumper of DiBenedetto for 2nd. Almirola looks to the inside in turn one, he side drafts him and takes the position.

4 to go, Reddick leads Almirola by a car length. Reddick moves up a lane to block as Almirola runs his right sides in the traction compound.

Tyler Reddick holds him off to win stage two and transfer into the All-Star Race!

Stage 3 – Report

Lap: 10 (41-50 / 50)

Aric Armiola and Matt DiBenedetto line up on the front row for a 10 lap shootout. The winner of this stage will be the final transfer car.

Green, Almirola and DiBenedetto run side by side in turn one. They remain side by a side a full lap. Almirola finally clears him back in turn one on the outside.

8 to go, Wallace has charged to 6th after a spin earlier in the event.

5 to go, Almirola leads DiBenedetto by 5 car lengths.

Aric Almirola wins, he’ll transfer into the NASCAR All-Star Race! Matt DiBenedetto has won the fan vote he’ll also transfer.
