Knoxville Heat Race Results: July 9, 2021 (NASCAR Truck Series)

Knoxville Raceway starting lineup set following heat race action at the dirt track

Tonight, the NASCAR Truck Series is set for the green flag at Knoxville Raceway. First, they’ll set the starting grid via four heat races.

The starting grid for heats have been set via a random draw. Points will be handed out for finishing positions in each heat. Additionally, passing points are in use, finish 1 spot higher than your start position and you earn an extra point.

Total points from heats will be used to set the feature lineup.

Heat 1 – Report

Laps: 15 (Green flag)

Josh Berry and Austin Wayne Self line up on the front row. 15 laps of dirt racing are up next…

Green flag, Berry and Self run near even into turn one. Berry wins the battle off turn two on the inside lane.

8 to go, most of the field is glued to the inside lane. However, Hailie Deegan is working the outside lane and looking for 4th.

3 to go, Deegan and Parker Price-Miller both prevail on the outside lane. Price-Miller to 2nd.

Josh Berry drives away at the front to win heat 1 at Knoxville Raceway!

Heat 2 – Report

Laps: 15 (Green flag)

Zane Smith and Kyle Strickler line up on the front row for the second heat race of the night. 15 more lane of racing are up next.

Green flag, Smith gets the jump at the launch and he’s clear into turn one. Rhodes looks to the inside of Strickler but Strickler holds the 2nd spot.

10 to go, Strickler is sticking with the middle lane as he attempts to build momentum. Rhodes keeps his nose to his inside but he can’t get the drive off the corner on the inside lane. Crafton has caught both of them.

5 to go, the caution is out as the flagman accidentally threw the white flag.

Green, Smith leads on the inside lane. He barely clears Strickler. Strickler remains on the outside in turn three. He closes the gap and gets to the right rear of Smith! Side by side for the lead and the Highside Tickler Kyle Strickler gets it done on the outside lane.

Heat 3 – Report

Laps: 15 (Green flag)

Brian Brown and Jack Wood lead them to the starting line. 15 more laps of truck racing are up next…

Green flag, Brown and Wood run even into turn one and off turn two. A lap later, Wood clears him via the outside lane. Ankrum follows him through on the outside lane as Brown falls to 3rd.

9 to go, Ankrum is on the bumper of Wood in the battle for the lead. He gets the drive off turn four and slides him into turn one, Ankrum to the lead.

John Hunter Nemechek pulls off the track. He’ll be starting at the tail regardless after crashing in yesterday’s practice round.

3 to go, Ankrum leads on the inside lane. Derek Kraus is leaning on the cushion through the middle lane and closing on the leader.

Tyler Ankrum holds him off to win heat 3!

Heat 4 – Report

Laps: 15 (Green flag)

Brett Moffitt and Carson Hocevar line up on the front row for the final heat race of the night. 15 more laps of qualifying racing are up next…

Green flag, Hocevar noses ahead on the outside into turn one. He drives it deep and holds it to lead off turn two.

Briscoe slides Moffitt for 2nd as Hocevar opens the gap.

10 to go, Hocevar leads on the bottom lane. Briscoe is closing slightly.

Most of the field has moved back to the bottom lane as the outside lane is giving away for now. It’s widening out a lot and causing a much longer lap for the outside lane.

Carson Hocevar wins the final heat race of the night at Knoxville Raceway!
