Knoxville Race Results: July 9, 2021 (NASCAR Truck Series)

NASCAR truck results from the Knoxville Raceway dirt track

Tonight, NASCAR makes it’s debut on the half-mile dirt track in Knoxville, Iowa. Knoxville Raceway is set to host the Knoxville 150 for the NASCAR Truck Series.

They’ve sprinkled the top lane with water ahead of the main event. The inside lane has been left alone.

Derek Kraus and Tyler Ankrum line up on the front row. The field forms into a four wide salute for the Iowa racing fans. 150 laps of dirt track racing are up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 40 (1-40 / 150)

Green flag, Kraus gets the jump and leads on the inside lane into turn one. They form three wide for 2nd and Johnny Sauter takes that spot on the outside lane.

Lap 2, Sauter to 2nd but he’s not done. Sauter knocks the cushion in turn three and he builds momentum off turn four. He’s to the right rear of Kraus and Kraus leaves the lane open. Sauter drives right by on the outside and leads back into turn one.

Lap 6, Hailie Deegan gets sideways off turn four. She bounces off the wall and into Sheldon Creed. The contact straightens her out and they keep rolling.

Lap 11, Carson Hocevar looks under Sauter into turn one. He slides him in turn three and completes the pass, Hocevar leads.

Lap 14

Lap 14, Briscoe turns Sauter and the caution is out.

Green, Hocevar gets the jump on the outside lane and he’s clear into turn one.

Lap 22, Hocevar runs the top as Todd Gilliland works the inside. They run even off turn two and cross lanes in turn three, Gilliland takes over the lead.

Lap 29, Gilliland leads but Hocevar is beating on his rear bumper as they both run the inside lane.

Lap 31, Brian Brown spins with help from Chase Purdy. Parker Price-Miller is nearly collected and the caution is out.

Green, Gilliland and Hocevar run side by side into turn one. Hocevar runs wide and brishes the wall off turn two. Gilliland leads on the top into turn three but Kraus dives to the inside! Kraus to the lead off turn four.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 50 (41-90 / 150)

The field is frozen as almost all the leaders head for the pit lane. One truck stays out, Donny Schatz.

Green flag on stage two, Schatz and Kraus run even into turn one. Gilliland looks under both of them off turn two, three wide for the lead. Schatz is dropping fast through the field. Gilliland takes over the lead.

Lap 46, Stewart Friesen is the only car running the outside lane as he runs 8th. They’re driving by on the inside. Friesen bails and drops to the bottom with the rest of the field.

Lap 50, Creed tries to close the door on Kraus into turn one. Kraus beats on his left rear and pushes him up a lane. Kraus drives by on the inside to take 4th away.

Lap 65, Jessica Friesen spins. Morgan Alexander slams into her as she’s parked sideways on the track.

Green, Todd Gilliland leads Carson Hocevar as the top 5 form single file around the bottom in a hurry. Austin Hill drops from 2nd to outside to the top 10 as he struggles to work to the inside lane.

Lap 83

Lap 83, the inside lane has taken rubber. The whole field fights for the inside lane.

Lap 84, Kraus has climbed to the rear bumper of Gilliland in the battle for the lead. Kraus beats on his bumper as they slice through lap traffic.

4 to go in stage two, Kraus leans on his bumper in turn three. Gilliland is off the bottom and Kraus forces his way inside off turn four. They fight for space and lean on each other in turn one but Kraus forces his way to the lead.

3 to go in stage two, Brian Brown spins on his own and the caution is out.

Stage two will end under the yellow. Derek Kraus wins stage two at Knoxville Raceway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 60 (91-150 / 150)

Chandler Smith, Jake Griffin and Sheldon Creed stay out. Everyone else hits the pit lane.

Green flag on stage three, Smith gets the jump and he leads on the inside into turn one. Kraus puts the bumper to Creed in turn three.

59 to go, Parker Price-Miller spins and Jack Wood is collected. The caution is out.

Green, Hocevar gets the jump on the outside lane! He cuts to the inside and leads into turn one!

49 to go, Chandler Smith works inside of Hocevar in turn one! Hocevar returns to the lead.

45 to go, Kraus spins with a flat left rear after Ben Rhodes beat on his fenders. The caution is out.

Green, Hocevar clears Smith into turn one on the outside. He cuts to the inside but can;t hold the bottom. Smith works under him as Smith washes up the banking. Smith leads off turn two.

36 to go, Rhodes is forced to the pit lane as a bumper bar is sticking out of his nose.

35 to go

35 to go, Stewart Friesen gets turned and Ryan Truex is collected. The caution is back out.

Green, Hocevar gets the jump on the outside lane and he takes the inside into turn one. He holds the spot.

28 to go, Hocevar can’t hold the bottom in turn one with Smith on his bumper. He runs wide as Smith drives right by on the inside to return to the lead. Crafton takes over 2nd as Hocevar gathers it up.

21 to go, Chris Windom is slow with a flat tire and the caution is out.

Green, Smith and Crafton run even into turn one. Smith leads on the inside off turn two as Crafton is hung out to dry on the outside lane. Crafton falls to 6th as he can’t get to the bottom.

12 to go, Moffitt has a flat left rear. He spins into turn three, catches the wall and the caution is out.

Green, Smith leads on the inside. Hocevar pinches down on Enfinger as they fight for the inside into turn one.

4 to go, Austin Hill forces his way inside of Enfinger. He shoves him up the track and drives by to take 2nd. Behind them, Hailie Deegan spins and collects multiple trucks. The caution is out.

Green, big crash! Jake Griffin got sideways at the launch, as Schatz pushed on him, Griffin was turned across the field. 10+ cars are collected in a crash before the starting line. Schatz, Briscoe, Purdy, Creed, Erickson, Rohrbaugh, Benning, Gray, Berry, Rouse, Deegan, Windom and Noland are collected. The red flag is out but all drivers appear to be ok.

Green, Austin Wayne Self, Kyle Strickler and Ryan Truex spin into turn one, caution. Kraus pushes Strickler into turn one and collected Self in the process.

Green, Smith and Hill run near even as they rub doors in turn one. Hill noses ahead on the outside off turn two.

Sauter and Stewart Friesen tangle behind them. As they slam the wall, the caution is back out. Kraus tagged the bumper of Ankrum and Ankrum pushed on Friesen.

Hill takes over the lead based on the timing light.

NASCAR Overtime #4

Green, Hill leads on the bottom in turn one. Smith runs wide and Enfinger takes over 2nd.

White flag, Enfinger and Hocevar rubs doors, Smith crosses under both of them and returns to 2nd. John Hunter Nemechek spins off turn two!
