NASCAR driver Kyle Larson takes on the Eldora Speedway season opener

Tonight, the half-mile dirt track of Eldora Speedway opens their 2022 racing season. The Rossburg, Ohio track is set to host the FloRacing Night In America event paying $22,022 to win.

Kyle Larson and Jonathan Davenport set the front row. The track is heavy and fast tonight. So heavy that they’ve trimmed the laps of the feature, just 30 laps of dirt late model racing are up next…

Report

Green flag, they run near even into turn one. Larson noses ahead through the middle, Davenport builds momentum on the outside lane. Davenport to the lead off turn two. Larson gets light in Davenport’s dirty air in turn four, he lifts and loses ground.

Lap 2, Shannon Babb spins, caution.

Green, Davenport leads. Larson pushes wide into turn one and Overton takes over 2nd.

Lap 3, Larson dives back to the inside of Overton in turn three. He completes the pass back in turn one, Larson back to 2nd.

Lap 5, Hudson O’Neal is flying around the top. He started 16th and he’s up to 6th.

Lap 7, Larson has caught the bumper of Davenport. He drives it deep to the inside in turn one, clear. Larson to the lead.

Lap 8, Larson has caught the tail of the field. Davenport dives to his inside, they both jump through the ruts and nearly bang doors. Larson holds the lead.

Lap 10, slow car, caution.

Green, Larson slams the gas through the ruts and he’s clear by three car lengths off turn two.

Lap 12, Kyle Strickler works to the outside of Overton into turn one. He takes 3rd away.

Lap 18, Larson has caught the tail of the field. He leads Davenport by 2 seconds.

10 to go, Davenport has brushed the outside wall. He’s picked up spoiler damage.

5 to go, Larson leads Davenport by 3 seconds.

2 to go, Strickler slows with a flat and the caution is out!
