Portland Race Results: June 4, 2022 (NASCAR Xfinity Series)

NASCAR Xfinity results from the return to Portland International Raceway

Today, NASCAR returns to Portland, Oregon. The 1.967-mile road course of Portland International Raceway is set to host the Pacific Office Automation 147.

Portland Xfinity
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 25 (1-25 / 75)

Allmendinger heads for the pit lane as he’s collected grass on his grill. He ran off track coming to the green.

Green flag, Daniel Hemric has a run from row two and makes it three wide for the lead into turn one! Alfredo locks up the brakes and he misses the corner entirely. Alfredo is forced to come to a complete stop as he runs off track. Hemric leads into turn two, no caution.

Sheldon Creed quickly moves to the race lead.Ty Gibbs follows him through to take over 2nd.

Lap 2, Ty Gibbs outbrakes Creed into turn 9, Gibbs to the lead. Creed fights back in turn two and they rub doors but Gibbs holds the spot.

Lap 4, Justin Allgaier is off in the grass as he clipped a painted curb in the rain, he was running 8th. He’s able to get back on the track, no caution.

Lap 8, Noah Gragson is off in the turn four grass. He’s able to find the pavement again, no caution.

Lap 10, Ty Gibbs leads Sheldon Creed by 11 seconds. Gibbs has just placed AJ Allmendinger a lap down as Allmendinger is fighting multiple issues early in this race.

Lap 14

Lap 14, the caution is out as Brandon Jones spins. Sam Mayer is on the pit lane with the hood up after he drove into the back of another car while they navigated the spinning car of Jones.

Green, Austin Hill dives inside of Gibbs into turn one. Gibbs hangs on his outside and now he’s on the inside for turn two. Gibbs holds him off.

Lap 18, Sheldon Creed spins from 2nd, no caution!

Ty Gibbs wins stage one by 15 seconds!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 25 (26-50 / 75)

The field is frozen as they head for the pit lane. There’s no live pit stops this weekend due to a lack of road crews, this is a race break. Teams have 3 minutes to change tires, add fuel and make adjustments.

Green flag on stage two, Gibbs leads into turn one. Austin Hill and Connor Mosack run side by side for 2nd. Riley Herbst spins with help from Sheldon Creed. Riley Vargas slams into Herbst’s spinning machine and the caution is back out. Matt Jaskol and Darren Dilley are also collected.

Green, Connor Mosack dives inside of Gibbs from row two! Gibbs hangs on his outside and he now has the inside into turn two. Gibbs leads Mosack into turn three.

Lap 33, Austin Hill misses turn one. He comes to a complete stop in the runoff to serve a penalty. Daniel Hemric takes over 2nd.

Lap 39

Lap 39, the caution is out as multiple cars are off track.

Jesse Iwuji spins Ty Gibbs under yellow! It appears to be an accident but Ty Gibbs spins it and keeps rolling.

Penalty: Iwuji is being held for 2 laps.

Green, Noah Gragson works to the outside of Ty Gibbs into turn one! They fight for space in turn two, Gibbs holds the lead.

As they roll into turn four, Noah Gragson leads on Gibbs, runs him wide and Gragson takes the lead. Ty Gibbs turns Noah Gragson and retakes the lead, no caution. Sheldon Creed works by Gibbs to take the lead.

Gibbs dives inside of Creed and they make contact. Gibbs and Creed are both off track in the final corner! Andy Lally takes over the race lead!

Lap 47, Myatt Snider is all over the bumper of Andy Lally for the race lead. He has a run and clears under braking into turn 8, Snider leads.

3 to go in stage one, Myatt Snider misses the braking zone in turn four. Lally closes right to his bumper but Snider holds him off.

Myatt Snider wins stage 2 at Portland International Raceway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 25 (51-75 / 75)

The field hits the pit lane for the second 3:00 minute race break. Most of the field are putting on slick tires. It’s no longer raining but the track is wet.

Green flag on stage three, Myatt Snider gets the launch and he’s clear into turn one.

23 to go, caution for debris.

Green, Snider is clear into turn one. Landon Cassill takes over 2nd! 10+ cars tangle in turn one, no caution.

20 to go, caution as many cars are stuck off track and Sheldon Creed is dropping fluid.

Green, Myatt Snider locks up and misses turn one! AJ Allmendinger to the race lead! Multipls cars crash in turn four.

13 to go

13 to go, the caution is out as multiple cars are stalled in the grass.

As they roll under caution, the rain has begun to fall again. AJ Allmendinger pits from the race lead for wet tires! Allmendinger restarts 3rd as Jade Buford and JJ Yeley stay out. Yeley is the only car out on slick tires.

Green, Allmendinger dives inside of Buford for the lead. Allgaier, Gragson and others tangle behind them, no caution.

Myatt Snider and AJ Allmendinger run side by side for the lead.

7 to go, caution for bebris.

Green, Snider is clears into turn one. Allmendinger holds 2nd. Allmendinger rubs on Snider into turn four. Allmendinger to the lead!

1 to go, Allmendinger leads Snider by 1.5 seconds.
