Tonight, the NASCAR Xfinity Series begins their 2022 racing season in Daytona Beach, Florida. The field is set for the green flag on the 2.5-mile of Daytona International Speedway.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 30 (1-30 / 120)

Green flag, Hemric gets the jump from the inside and he’s clear into turn one.

Lap 2, Hemric blocks a run from the outside lane. Austin Hill powers to his inside, side by side for the lead.

Penalty: Anthony Alfredo has lost his right side window. NASCAR will make him hit the pit lane under green to fix it.

Lap 8, Austin Hill clears him. Hill moves to the top and leads the train on the outside lane.

Hill gets too far out front into turn one. Hemric has a run off turn two, he drives right by on the inside, Hemric back to the lead.

Lap 14, Riley Herbst checks up after a sidedraft from Noah Gragson. Drew Dollar is caught in the accordion, as he taps the brakes, the car darts. Dollar spins off turn two and slams the outside wall, caution.

3 to go in stage one, the top 15 have formed single file around the top.

1 to go, Hill leads a charge on the inside lane. Hemric pulls down to throw the block and holds the lead. He moves back to the top, blocks that run too.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 30 (31-60 / 120)

Brandon Brown wins the race to the pit exit with no tires. Hemric is off 9th, the first with four tires. Joe Graf Jr is the only car to stay out.

Green flag on stage two, they run even into turn one. Gragson pushes Brown clear off turn two, Brown leads into turn three.

Lap 38, the field forms single file around the top lane. Brown still leads.

Lap 49, Noah Gragson shuffles Brown out of line. Gragson takes over the lead.

1 to go in stage two, Hemric cuts off the bumper of Gragson and heads for the bottom. Gragson cuts down to throw a block. Hemric gets into his bumper and Gragson is jacked sideways toward the apron. Sparks fly and Gragson saves it but he’s lost momentum. Hemric drives around him on the inside.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 30 (31-60 / 120)

Green flag on stage three, Hemric leads the field into turn one. Ty Gibbs pulls even on the outside lane, side by side for the lead. Hemric holds him off via the inside lane.

47 to go, Hemric, Allmendinger and Cassill hit the pit lane under green for a scheduled stop. Gibbs is handed the lead.

46 to go, Sam Mayer spins as he tries to get to the pit lane, no caution.

43 to go, Josh Bilicki leads a group of 7 cars that have yet to pit.

37 to go

37 to go, the caution is out for debris. Bilicki and the rest head for the pit lane. Austin Hill is handed the race lead.

Green, Hill leads the field off turn two.

30 to go, big crash in the tri-oval! CJ McLaughlin got loose. He chased it to the apron then back across the race track. 8 cars are collected, including Daniel Hemric. The caution is out.

Green, Hill is clear into turn one. Cassill pulls to the bumper of Allmendinger and pushes him ahead, Allmendinger leads into turn three.

19 to go, Hill has a run on the outside lane with help from Gragson. They pull even with Allmendinger. Hill noses ahead and returns to the lead.

15 to go, Allmendinger is pushed back to the lead. He begins blocking runs from both lanes.

4 to go, the top 10 run single file around the top lane. Allmendinger holds the lead.

3 to go, Gragson leads a charge on the inside lane as they build mometnum. Gragson works inside of Allmendinger in turn three.

2 to go, side by side for the lead. Allmendinger holds him off.

1 to go, Allmendinger moves to the inside but he leads by more than a car length off turn two. Herbst pushes Austin Hill down the back. Hill makes an abrupt move the inside down the back. Allmendinger can’t block it, Hill is clear!

Myatt Snider gets turned into the outside wall behind them. As he’s turned around backwards, the car takes flight and slams the catch fence. The caution is out!

Austin Hill wins at Daytona!
