The track is a 3.61-mile road course with 14 corners. It’s the second race of the 2021 season.
18-year-old driver Ty Gibbs is making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut. As is Natalie Decker.
Trouble for Noah Gragson ahead of the green flag. He hits the pit lane and the hood is up and he struggles to keep the car running. Gragson will miss the start.

Daytona Xfintiy Race
Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 15 (1-15 / 52)
Green flag, Austin Cindric is clear into turn one.
Lap 3, Noah Gragson is on the race track, three laps down. He’ll also have to serve a pass through penalty.
Lap 4, the caution is out as Natalie Decker is dropping oil on the track. She gets a push to the garage.
Green, Cindric clears AJ Allmendinger into turn one and holds the lead.
Lap 11, Allmendinger is all over the bumper of Cindric for the lead. Allmendinger enters wide in turn five and has a run off the corner. He dives to his inside in turn six and Allmendinger takes the lead.
Lap 12, the caution is out as Ryan Vargas has stalled on the track.
The leaders stay out as Moffitt pits from 3rd. Harrison Burton wins the race to the pit exit. Burton restarts in 29th!
Green, Allmendinger leads into turn one. He opens the gap.
Crashing for the stage win
Final lap in stage one, Cindric has closed to the rear bumper of Allmendinger into the final chicane. Cindric rubs on him and has a run off the corner and he looks inside.
The race to the line, Allmendinger crowds him but Cindric is already there. He turns himself across the nose of Cindric. As Allmendinger slides through the grass, he picks up heavy damage as does Cindric and Riley Herbst.

Stage 2 – Report
Laps: 15 (16-30 / 52)
The leaders hit the pit lane. Cindric’s crew goes to work on the damage. Harrison Burton leads the field to the restart.
Green flag on stage two, Harrison Burton leads Ty Gibbs into turn one.
Lap 21, Ty Gibbs has a run on Harrison Burton into turn five. He looks to the inside and clears him, Ty Gibbs leads.
Lap 25, Austin Cindric has cracked the top 10. He’s missing a right front fender and climbing to the front.
Lap 26, Miguel Paludo has left a left front tire after locking up into turn one while inside the top 5. He coasts back to the pit lane.

Stage 3 – Report
Laps: 22 (31-52 / 52)
Gibbs leads the field to the pit lane. Hemric wins the race to the pit exit. Brandon Jones crashes into the back of Myatt Snider at the exit of the pit lane. Gaulding stays out.
Green flag on stage three, Hemric leads into turn one. Cindric has climbed all the way to 2nd!
17 to go, Cindric lightly taps the rear bumper of Hemric in turn five. He then crosses under him off the corner. No right front fender necessary, Cindric returns to the front of the field.
16 to go, Cindric locks up the brakes into turn five and Ty Gibbs climbs right to his rear bumper in the battle for the lead.
15 to go, another lockup from Cindric into turn five! Gibbs pulls even and they rub doors into turn six but Cindric holds him off.
The caution is out as Jade Buford stalls.
Restart
Green, Cindric gets the jump as Ty Gibbs spins the tires and falls to 4th at the launch. Hemric takes over 2nd.
Cindric cooks turn three. Hemric looks inside but cant clear him. Hemric has a run off turn six and looks to the inside but Cindric holds him off once more.
11 to go, Gibbs crosses under Hemric and takes over 2nd.
Cindric throws a block on Gibbs into turn six. They rub doors and remain side by side into turn three of the oval. Cindric drives it deep into the bus stop and kicks up dust as he holds the lead.
10 to go, Cindric locks up into turn three. Gibbs rubs on him but Cindric holds him off.
8 to go, Cindric and Gibbs rub fenders into turn six. Cindric remains the leader.
5 to go, Cindric leads Gibbs by 15 car lengths at the line.
3 to go, Cindric leads Gibbs by 10 car lengths.
Caution. There’s a tire caucus on the the track as well as a stalled car. We’re going into overtime. Noah Gragson is finally on the lead lap, for the first time all race.
Overtime
The leaders hit the pit lane. Haley wins the race to the pit exit with fuel only. Sieg and Snider line up on the front row as 9 cars stayed out. Cindric restarts 11th and Gibbs 12th.
Sieg leads into turn one but he runs wide as does Snider! Jeb Burton takes over the lead! Cindric and Gibbs both take them four wide inside the top 10. Gibbs climbs all the way to 4th but he’s shoved in the grass in turn two!
Several cars stack up into turn three! Jeremy Clements spins and Josh Williams is in the tire barrier. The caution is out.
Overtime x2
Green, Jeb Burton gets the jump and leads into turn one. Gibbs forces his way inside of Brandon Jones for 2nd as he runs off track and throws dirt 30 feet into the air!
Gibbs is on the bumper of Burton into turn three. He looks inside and clear, Ty Gibbs to the lead!
White flag, Ty Gibbs leads Austin Cindric by just 8 car lengths at the line.
Ty Gibbs wins at Daytona International Speedway in his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series race!
