Tonight, the NASCAR Cup Series unloads in Daytona Beach, Florida. Teams are set for qualifying, under the lights at Daytona International Speedway. This session will set the front row for the famed Daytona 500.

Format: Each car will get just one lap in the first round. The top 10 fastest cars from round one will then go for an additional run in the final round to set the pole.
The top 2 runners from this session will lockout the front row in the Daytona 500. However, for everyone else this just sets the starting positions in Thursday’s two duel races. Finishing positions in the duel races will be used to complete the Daytona 500 starting lineup.

Qualifying Report
42 drivers are set to take to the track. The field is split into two groups. The first group is everyone that finished outside the top 20 in owner points last season. Group B will be the top 20 in points.
12 drivers have taken to the track so far. Daniel Hemric is the fastest car so far, Hemric was the first car to turn a lap.
26 cars in, rookie Harrison Burton jumps to the top of the board. The first car to top Hemric so far. Moments later, Ross Chastain takes over the top spot.
37 cars in, Chase Elliott jumps to the top of the board. The very next car to go, Alex Bowman, tops him. William Byron then did the same. As Kyle Larson runs, Hendrick Motorsports sets in the top four so far.

Run 2
The top 10 drivers from round one advance into round two. The times are reset and these ten drivers will make another lap in the run for the pole.
Alex Bowman picked up 1.5 tenths between round one and round two. But, it wasn’t enough as Kyle Larson jumped to the top of the board.
Kyle Larson will start from the pole position in Sunday’s Daytona 500. Alex Bowman will complete the front row.
