NASCAR community celebrates the life of Coy Gibbs

Joe Gibbs Racing hosted a memorial for Coy Gibbs

The NASCAR community gathered at Joe Gibbs Racing on Wednesday.

49-year-old Coy Gibbs died suddenly on November 6th, just hours after his son Ty Gibbs claimed the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. He served as the vice chairman and chief operating officer of Joe Gibbs Racing.

Joe Gibbs, father to Coy and owner of JGR hosted the memorial at the team’s race shop.

Several hundred attended the memorial. JGR drivers Christopher Bell, Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin were all in attendance. A list of former JGR drivers also attended including Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Aric Almirola, Carl Edwards and Daniel Hemric.

Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports as well as the vice-chairman, Jeff Gordon also attended.
