Race Report
Green flag, Rahal gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. Newgarden and Kirkwood bang wheels behind them.
Marcus Ericsson and Romain Grosjean are off track before the conclusion of lap 1. Grosjean is slow with damage.
Lap 3, Will Power is off in the grass. He stalls and the caution is out.
Lap 19, Herta, Rossi and Ericsson head for the pit lane to begin the pit cycle.
Penalty: Kyle Kirkwood has been told to give up two positions after running Ryan Hunter-Reay wide.
Lap 35, Alex Palou cycles to the race lead. Scott Dixon cycles to 2nd.
Lap 49, Palou pits from the race lead. Another pit cycle begins.
Lap 60, Dixon heads for the pit lane and Palou cycles back to the lead.
Lap 80, Palou returns to the pit lane. This will be his final stop of the day. Palou exits in 6th, handing the lead to Dixon.
Marcus Armstrong pulls away from his pit stall and the right rear tire comes off. The team pulls him back into the box to correct the error.
27 to go, Canapino spins and stalls. The caution is out. Rosenqvist hit the pit lane from the lead just ahead of the yellow. Palou cycles back to the race lead.
Green, Palou leads Rosenqvist into turn one.
21 to go, Marcus Ericsson and Alexander Rossi bang wheels! Rossi heads for the pit lane with damage.
10 to go, Palou leads Rosenqvist by 2.5 seconds.
