This crash is one of the biggest in the history of the sport
Update: NASCAR Race Results
On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series took the green flag at Talladega Superspeedway. The 2.66-mile track is known for big crashes but this one is one of the biggest in the history of the sport.
Bubba Wallace pitted late in stage one. With a quick pit stop with little fuel needed, he started stage two at the front of the field.
On lap 115, Ross Chastain gave a bump draft to Bubba Wallace down the backstretch. Wallace wiggled across the track and was clipped in the right rear.
As Wallace was turned into the outside wall, the field scattered behind him. But, there was nowhere to go.
Wallace was leading at the time of the crash.
Only 4 cars came around under speed to complete the lap at speed. At least 26 cars were involved in the crash.
Cars involved: Austin Cindric; Austin Dillon; Kyle Larson; Brad Keselowski; Daniel Suarez; Kyle Busch; Denny Hamlin; Ryan Blaney; Chase Briscoe; Josh Berry; Joey Logano; Bubba Wallace; William Byron; Jesse Love; Cole Custer; John Hunter Nemechek; Erik Jones; Joey Gase; Tyler Reddick; Cody Ware; Ty Gibbs; Chad Finchum; Michael McDowell; Carson Hocevar; Connor Zilisch; Shane van Gisbergen

Bubba Wallace comments
“Damn,” Bubba Wallace told FOX Sports after exiting the care center.
“Nothing to show for in the first stage. Just hate it for our team.”
“Don’t want to have any DNFs. We have two now. Just a bummer.”
Wallace added, “We gotta figure out how to be pushed better. So, I take responsibility on that. We’ll have a debrief and figure out what we can do and maybe not have that happen.”
Other comments
Joey Logano comments: “They started wrecking above me there. I just tried to get as low as I could to avoid it. Everyone was trying to do the same thing. What do you want, save fuel or crash? Pick one, that’s what it feels like right now.
Logano added, “We have round bumpers on these things and the cars are unstable. Once everyone starts pushing and racing aggressive, it’s going to happen. Until we fix that stuff, we’re going to continue seeing it.”
Kyle Larson stated, “Not surprised to get wrapped up in that crash. Just sucks.”
Ryan Blaney says, “With the wreck we all kinda just pinballed off each other. We’ve seen that so many times. You’re trying to lift, then everybody wrecks. I don’t know if there’s really anyone to blame we just got to bouncing off each other.”
Update: The race has since concluded.
