8 times Hamlin has finished in the top-5 in the season standings. However, he remains without a championship title.

Eddie Gossage posts his take on Denny Hamlin

Eddie Gossage posted on X, “Why can’t Denny Hamlin win NASCAR title?”

“He’s won 51 races, 3 Daytona 500s, a Coke 600 but never the champ. Inside scoop: folks in garage question focus & his intelligence. Makes emotional decisions losing points & distracted by too many non-competition items. Talented but…”

The statement above was met with overwhelming disapproval.

The next day, Gossage clarified, “Lemme be clear. I have no axe to grind w/ Denny Hamlin. Don’t know him.”

“Only had one convo w/ him. He’s 1st ballot HOF. I didn’t say he lacks focus/intelligence. Was told that last week from 1 crew chief and 2 crew members. Asking is this why he hasn’t won title? Just reporting.”
