Kyle Petty said a lot about Ryan Blaney in March; By November, the NASCAR champion finally responded
Very early this season, Kyle Petty made comments on Ryan Blaney. The NASCAR broadcaster compared him to Kasey Kahne noting, “He never does anything for whatever reason.”
Months later, Blaney grabbed 3 wins and 18 top-10 finishes en route to the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championship. It’s his first NASCAR Cup Series title.
And, shortly after the race, Blaney returned shots at Petty.

“I look at the Fords, and I look at Penske, and I look at Joey and Ryan Blaney,” Kyle Petty stated via the “NASCAR on NBC” podcast.
“For me — I’m going, to be honest, man — Ryan Blaney is the new Kasey Kahne. Potential unfulfilled. Everybody wants to talk about what he can do, but he never does anything for whatever reason.”
“For whatever reason, he just never gets past that hump.”
Petty said that back in March of this year. Blaney never forgot….

“Ever since I was a little kid,” Ryan Blaney told Claire B Lang via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio of how long he’s wanted the NASCAR championship.
“I grew up admiring the Jimmie’s, Tony’s and Jeff Gordon’s of the sport. All those guys are champions.”
“As a kid, you just want to be like those guys. It was super cool to finally see it come full circle.”
“It takes a lot to be good in this sport. I know Kyle Petty says that I never do anything. But, hopefully we proved him wrong tonight.”
“I’ve been bottling that up for a while,” Blaney concluded with a laugh.
