F1 rejects Andretti Cadillac; Industry slams their statement

Andretti Cadillac ‘wouldn’t be a competitive participant’ according to Formula One in rejection notice

Andretti teamed up with Cadillac and put in an application to join the Formula 1 World Championship. F1 is a worldwide open wheel series. Globally, they’re unfortunately the biggest form of motorsports.

Andretti fields teams in Indycar, IMSA, Indy NXT, Formula E, Supercars Championship. But, they’re not welcome into American owned F1.

F1 has rejected Andretti’s application to join the grid. “We do not believe that the applicant would be a competitive participant.”

Haas F1 will remain the only American team in the sport. F1 has stated they’re open to Andretti resubmitting for 2028.

Andretti Cadillac statement

The organization issued the following statement:

“Andretti Cadillac has reviewed the information Formula One Management Limited has shared and strongly disagree with its contents,” the team stated,

“Andretti and Cadillac are two successful global motorsports organizations committed to placing a genuine American works team in F1, competing alongside the world’s best. We are proud of the significant progress we have already made on developing a highly competitive car and power unit with an experienced team behind it, and our work continues at pace.”

They concluded, “Andretti Cadillac would also like to acknowledge and thank the fans who have expressed their support.

Industry reacts

Mario Andretti, “I’m devastated. I won’t say anything else because I can’t find any other words besides devastated.”

Conor Daly, “One of the top 5 dumbest statements I’ve ever read.”

Graham Rahal stated, “F1 is an elitist sport. They don’t want us. Remember that. They want US companies money, they want wealthy US individuals money. But they don’t care about the rest. Always has been that way, always will be.”

Rahal added, “Oh wait. Another thing i said and got tremendous hate for it. You guys seeing it yet? Is it making sense yet? Andretti Global should be in there.”

Scott McLaughlin stated, “A racing series wants to expand into America. But won’t allow any more American teams in it. Makes sense.”

“It’s alright. Take your 10 teams. We will have 27 cars within a second in a few weeks, having zero idea Sunday morning who’s going to win the race. All the very best. LFG Indycar.”

Racing News stated, “F1 hasn’t been a racing series in a decade.”
