The Thermal Club near Palm Springs, California is set to host the NTT Indycar Series. A unique non-points event with a big payout of $500,000 to win.

The main event is 20 laps over two 10-lap segments. There’s 10 minute break between them. Alex Palou and Felix Rosenqvist set the front row and we’re going racing…

Race Report
Green flag, Palou gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. McLaughlin works around the outside of Rosenqvist through turn one to take 2nd away.
Lap 2, Colton Herta is going slow on purpose. He’s running 12 seconds slower than the leader with a bold strategy.
Lap 3, Rahal is struggling as he states, “My throttle is sticking.”
Lap 7, Palou leads McLaughlin by 1.5 seconds. Many drivers are saving massively regarding tires.
Lap 10, at the conclusion of the lap. The race break caution is thrown to conclude segment 1.

Segment 2
Drivers head to the pit lane for a 10 minute break. They are unable to change tires but they can adjust tire pressures and make wing adjustments.
Disqualified: Pietro Fittipaldi has been told to climb from his machine for failure to follow Indycar instructions.
Rahal has also exited the race due to mechanical issues. He was already laps down due to a stuck throttle.
Green flag on segment 2, Palou leads McLaughlin into turn one.
9 to go, Rossi looks to the outside of Newgarden into turn one. Rossi crosses under him off the corner and they rub wheels into turn two! As they both run wide, Rossi takes 6th. Rossi makes another move and he finally takes the spot away from Newgarden.
8 to go, Herta dives under Lunqdvist for 5th. Herta saved his tires for the duration of segment 1 and he’s flying through the field.
5 to go, Palou is driving away from McLaughlin and the rest of the field as he leads by 4 seconds.
3 to go, Herta has a run on Armstrong. He finally clears him for 4th.
1 to go, Palou leads McLaughlin by 5 seconds.
