Denny Hamlin finally picked up a championship trophy… As a car owner
Denny Hamlin is in his 20th year of NASCAR Cup Series competition. He’s collected 54 race wins along the way.
But, when it comes to a championship, Hamlin lacks a trophy.
He has a best finish of 2nd, dating back to 2010. He’s finished 3rd in the title fight, three times.
On Sunday at Darlington Raceway, Hamlin finally picked up a championship trophy, as a car owner. Tyler Reddick became the 2024 regular season champion and the driver of the No. 45 for 23XI Racing.
After the race, Michael Jordan saw an opportunity to stir the pot…

Here’s the post-race dialog between the co-owners:
“Way to go. Way to get it done,” Hamlin told his driver Tyler Reddick.
Michael Jordan: “Good job.”
“Now, I might as well at least touch it,” Hamlin circled back to the trophy.
Michael Jordan asked with a smile: “You got one of these don’t you?”
Hamlin: “No. No.”
“You do now.”
Hamlin: “I only got one I got that says champion on it, is Daytona.”

Kyle Larson also jumped in to stir the pot
Hamlin later added via social media, “Finally won a championship* *As an owner.”
Kyle Larson responded: “Ehh not technically… Seriously though congrats. Great team.”
23XI Racing made their debut in the 2021 season. For 2025, the team will expand from a two-car to three-car operation.
