This weekend, NASCAR returns to Talladega Superspeedway. All NASCAR Cup Series cars will hit the track with updated aerodynamic pieces in an effort to prevent lift in the event of a crash.

In recent races, many drivers have gotten upside down after a spin. In many of those, there wasn’t contact at the time of lift. This is particularly the case for superspeedway events.

New Changes:

– Extended-height roof rail

– Extended rocker panel skirt

– Fabric beneath the right-side roof flap

The roof rail will see a 2 inch fin. This will help keep the car on the ground in the event it’s turned sideways.

The fabric added to the right side roof flip is also new for this weekend. This will act as a parachute.

Additionally, the rocker box on the side of the car will see a new piece of aluminum. This will eliminate space between the car and the track.
