Joey Logano called out teammate Austin Cindric on the team radio at Talladega Superspeedway; It didn’t sit right with baseball hall of famer Chipper Jones
On Sunday, NASCAR raced on the 2.66-mile of Talladega Superspeedway. The drafting track is one track where teammates become more important as you’ll need a push to win the race.
On the final lap of stage two, Logano was racing Bubba Wallace for the stage win. Logano pulled up to catch a push from teammate Austin Cindric. However, Cindric was coming too fast and he was unable to push Logano by Wallace.
Bubba Wallace went on to win the stage. And, Logano was heated on the radio…

Logano screamed on the radio, “Way to go Austin!”
“Way to go you dumb (expletive). Way to (expletive) go! What a stupid (expletive)!”
“God! He just gave it to ’em! Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job! Way to go. What a (expletive)!”
“Put that in the book again! He can put that in his frickin’ notes and text it to us.”
Austin Cindric went on to win the race.

Chipper Jones comments on Joey Logano
Chipper Jones played for the Atlanta Braves en route to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He grew up need Daytona International Speedway, thus he also follows NASCAR.
“Congrats to Austin Cindric on his TALLADEGA win,” Chipped Jones opened via X.
“Good teammates are hard to come by, Boss! Remember that one of urs MFed u on national tv, when in all actuality, u did everything possible to keep from wrecking him.”
“Hate to be #dueces in the ‘team’ meeting on Monday. Some people are ‘hooray for our team as long as I’m the star’ as every team has them. Hendrick, RCR, JGR, Penske, etc. Sometimes karma is glorious. Enjoy this one!”
He added, “In case anyone is confused, lemme be clear…. Joey Logano”
But Chipper wasn’t done roasting Logano…
“Couldn’t even congratulate Austin Cindric in the post race! #teamplayer At least he mentioned being selfish in the interview. Credit!”
“Maybe he’s experienced enough to wait til after the race, knowing some extenuating circumstances may have taken place. Not to mention, he knows he’s mic’ed up. And he can’t say whatever he wants. Nobody can without consequences. Uv never heard what I’ve said in the heat of the moment on national tv.”
After the race, Logano was handed a disqualification.
Jones commented on that, “My day just keeps getting better!”

Logano responds to Chipper Jones
“Has Chipper Jones ever driven a racecar at Talladega? That would be my first question,” Logano said via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. “I’m pretty certain he hasn’t.”
“That’s like me saying something about baseball. I know nothing about baseball. That’s like me criticizing something he did on the field. It doesn’t matter.”
“No one else, nobody—Chipper Jones, race fans, whoever—was in the room when we come up with how we’re going to race at superspeedways,” Logano continued. “Those are the only opinions that matter. Everyone else can talk, but they don’t know the situation.”
“You would think someone who’s been in professional sports, who’s been in meetings, would know there’s probably more to the story. I’m surprised it went that way. Maybe he was just bored. I don’t know his situation. Either way, I tell you—I don’t care.”
Logano also added, “Austin [Cindric] and I talked about it, we’ve got to move forward, so, I explained my side, he understood, and we moved on. That’s pretty much all there is to it. There’s no point in airing out our dirty laundry and airing out what the rules are because that’s private information that doesn’t need to be out to everybody, but the facts are that what we set in place wasn’t happening, and that’s why I got frustrated.”
