Tonight, the NTT Indycar Series went short track racing. The 1.25-mile oval of WWT Raceway is hosting the Bommarito Automotive Group 500.

On lap 131, Louis Foster ran wide in turn four. He clipped the wall and picked up marbles. He then spun across the track just ahead of race leader Josef Newgarden.

Newgarden was pinched into the inside wall and sent skyward. The car flipped on it’s lid and slid halfway down the front stretch.

The safety team jumped the pit lane wall almost immediately to check on Newgarden. The safety team then slowly lifted the No. 2 back on mangled wheels before the driver climbed out.

Newgarden has been checked and released from the medical center.

The race in St. Louis is currently ongoing.

Louis Foster comments

“I think one too many laps too long, trying the high line,” Louis Foster told FOX.

He added, “I got behind Ferrucci. I got a little wiggle. Had wiggles, all race there. I got a bit too high onto the dark stuff.”

“I got into the marbles and was a passenger. At that point, I bent my toe link and just couldn’t stop the car from spinning there.”

“Pretty scary impact for both myself and Josef. Shame it had to end that way.”
