Jonathan Davenport penalized at Muskingum County Speedway

After the penalty, Jonathan Davenport has lost the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point lead

On Saturday night, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolled into Zanesville, Ohio. The 3/8-mile dirt track of Muskingum County Speedway hosted the big $25,000 to win show.

Jonathan Davenport was the point leader heading into the event. Ricky Thornton Jr trailed by just 55 points.

In the feature, Davenport started from the front row. He hit the cushion and took the lead early in the 60 lap main event.

In the closing laps, Hudson O’Neal rolled the bottom lane in a charge to the front. However, a late race caution setup a thrilling finish.

With just 4 to go, Davenport slid O’Neal for the race lead. O’Neal crossed under him to retake the lead.,

Hudson O’Neal was able to open the gap and take his third win of the season.

Jonathan Davenport fails post-race inspection

Davenport crosses the finish line in 2nd. However, he failed post race inspection.

Officials noted that Davenport’s droop limiter was not properly fastened as a bolt came loose. As a result, the chain wasn’t tight.

Per the rules, he was docked to the 25th place finish.

After the penalty, Ricky Thornton Jr is the new point leader of the LOLMDS. Davenport now trails by 20 points.
