Phoenix Raceway results for the NTT Indycar Series
It’s a double-header race weekend in Phoenix, Arizona as the NASCAR Cup Series and NTT Indycar Series share the 1-mile oval. First up, the Indycar Series is set to take the green flag on a Saturday at Phoenix Raceway.

Race Report
Green flag, Newgarden attempts to make it three wide at the launch but he’s blocked. Malukas leads off turn two.
Lap 5, Dennis Hauger is turned around backwards exiting turn two. He avoids the wall and the caution is out.
Lap 25, Rinus VeeKay works to the outside of Alex Palou exiting turn four. He only has a wheel on him but Palou cuts across his wing and they’re both in the outside wall. The caution is out and Palou is done for the day.
Lap 65, Newgarden heads for the pit lane. Malukas hits the pit the next lap. They exit wheel to wheel! The teammates rub and fight for space! Newgarden clears him via the outside lane with 1 lap warmer tires. O’Ward cycles out ahead of both of them after pitting a few lap earlier.
Lap 86, Dixon cycles to the lead. He’s on an alternate pit strategy after pitting during an early caution along with several others.
Lap 99
Lap 99, Dixon and others dive for the pit lane. O’Ward cycles to the lead.
Christian Rasmussen has a run and he jumps to the outside of O’Ward. Rasmussen to the lead!
Lap 126, Rasmussen pits from the lead. Newgarden follows the next lap. Another pit cycle is underway. Malukas nearly stalls leaving his stall and he’s lost a lot of time.
Rasmussen cycles back to the race lead.
Lap 148, Louis Foster finds the marbles and then the wall, caution.
Rasmussen and others return to the pit lane once again. Dixon wins the race to the pit exit. Dixon restarts 3rd as Kirkwood and Power stay out.
Lap 158, Kirkwood leads. Dixon and Rasmussen rub wheels for 3rd!
Lap 184, Kirkwood leads Rasmussen by 1 second. The leader works heavy lap traffic.
Lap 191
Lap 191, Rasmussen has a run on Kirkwood into turn one. He makes a late move to the outside, Rasmussen takes the lead away. The next lap, Kirkwood hits the pit lane. A lap later, Rasmussen also heads for the pit lane.
Lap 197, Will Power cycles to the race lead. O’Ward and Kirkwood trail by 1.3 seconds.
Lap 206, Rasmussen dives inside of Power. He wiggles and Power holds the lead.
Lap 207, Rasmussen works to the outside of Power. Power runs him wide into the wall exiting turn two. Power picks up a flat right rear tire and Rasmussen takes over the lead! The caution is out.
Rasmussen stays out. O’Ward, Newgarden, McLaughlin and others head for the pit lane.
Green, Rasmussen leads Kirkwood and Malukas. O’Ward restarts in 9th.
27 to go, O’Ward has climbed to 5th with fresh tires.
16 to go, Kirkwood is all over the back of Rasmussen. The leader is struggling loose.
13 to go, Newgarden clears O’Ward for 4th.
10 to go, Kirkwood dives inside of Rasmussen into turn three. He completes the pass into turn one! Rasmussen bounces off the outside wall and Newgarden clears him for 2nd!
7 to go, Newgarden has a run into turn three! He dives inside and slides Kirkwood for the lead!
Josef Newgarden wins at Phoenix Raceway!
