Cleetus McFarland is climbing the NASCAR ranks at a rapid rate. The ultra-popular YouTube star is now set for his first NASCAR O’Reilly Series start.

Cleetus McFarland signs with Richard Childress Racing

Between 2025-2026, McFarland ran just five ARCA Menards Series races. However, he collected two top-10 finishes. He most recent attempt placed him 11th at Daytona International Speedway.

In February, he made his first career start in the NASCAR Truck Series. Like most, he ended the race in a crash.

Now, McFarland is moving up the ladder. He’s set to drive for Richard Childress Racing at Rockingam Speedway in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series.

This quick climb has some drivers making comments on whether or not he’s qualified to even start the race…

“I don’t know how many races he’s run,” Kyle Busch opened.

“I mean, Denny Hamlin ran 10,000 before he got here, right? So, I don’t know if Cleetus has run ten or not but there’s definitely a need to having ample experience.”

“My son’s probably run more races than he has and he’s 10-years-old. You know what I mean?”

“I don’t think that sits well with many of us.”

Ty Dillon says Cleetus wants to run in the Cup Series

“I think we can make this work for both sides. His fan base is our fans base but we need to kind of merge them together,” Ty Dillon stated via Dirty Mo Media.

“I think his people will love us and our people will love him. And then the sport of NASCAR together, we can put something great together.”

“So, I called him. I was like, ‘Hey man, what do you think about this idea? I know you’re wanted to race in NASCAR, what is your goal?’ “

“He’s like, “I love the superspeedways and I would love to one day race in the Cup Series. The Daytona 500 would be awesome.”
