Rico Abreu details his new shop

“Over the last 15 years, we’ve always rented race shops,” Rico Abreu stated.

“I came up with a plan in the last year and a half to build my own race shop. I found a location in Indianapolis, a 3 acre lot that became really appealing to me.”

It’s more than just a place for race cars, haulers and components. The shop is also fitted with a machine shop, full gym as well as merchandise storage.

Abreu was formerly renting from Joey Saldana.

“I was tired of paying people rent. I wanted to put that toward owning something that was mine.”

The building itself is 7,500 square feet. At 64′ x 120′ the team is able to back the haulers directly into the shop.

“I wanted the boys to be able to work right out of the back of the hauler, like they do at the race track. Be able to utilize the trailer, in the shop.”

The limestone on the exterior of the building was imported from Texas.

“This building has been really exciting to see come together. This lot, it has a Barndominium on it where some of the team members stay.”

“Putting together a partnership with Tony Stewart Racing was a big change in the plan. All of our stuff went over to Tony’s at the end of World Finals.”

“This whole thing is something I feel I’ve worked really hard for. I wanted to be very involved with the building of this.
