NASCAR driver transported after fire at Lime Rock Park (Video)

Watch the video as Thomas Annunziata’s truck caught fire

On Saturday, the NASCAR Truck Series raced at Lime Rock Park. The 1.48-mile road course is located in Limeville, CT.

With 22 laps to go, Chandler Smith stalled on track bringing out a caution. Thomas Annunziata was not involved and he ran 2nd under the yellow flag.

After several laps under caution, Annunziata abruptly caught fire exiting turn seven. He pulled it quickly to the grass and climbed from the truck as smoke billowed.

The 21-year-old NASCAR driver walked away from the truck and kneeled down to catch his breath. The safety team was then seen holding the driver up as they evaluated him.

Since then, Annunziata has been transported to a local hospital.

The driver runs full-time in the ARCA Menards Series for Nitro Motorsports. He ran the ARCA race at the same track on Friday. He also races a part-time schedule in the NASCAR Truck Series for Tricon Garage.

The race has concluded.

Tricon Garage issued the following statement:

“Thomas Annunziata is awake and alert and being transported to an area medical facility for further evaluation.”
