Watch the video and the team radio during the post-race incident at Charlotte Motor Speedway
On Sunday the NASCAR Cup Series raced on the 1.5-mile of Charlotte Motor Speedway. There was some pst-race drama.
After the checkered flag, Ricky Stenhouse Jr sped up and drove up to the door of Michael McDowell. He gave him a wack, right-front to his door.
But it wasn’t over, as they were coming to the pit lane, Michael McDowell drove into the right rear of Stenhouse Jr, hooking him in the right rear. Stenhouse Jr went spinning up the banking.
Michael McDowell stated over the radio, “That guys trying to run me over. Holy smokes!”
The No. 71 team responded, “Yeah, just be by the cars guys. The No. 47 just took our left side off then turned himself. Just be by the car. He’s coming back to you.”
As they pulled into the pit lane, Stenhouse Jr climbed from his car and walked to the window of McDowell. The two drivers talked it out, punch-free.
Brad Daugherty is the co-owner of the No. 47 car with Hyak Motorsports. He reacted to the video, “Hey! What are we doing? Oh-no! Don’t tear it up now. Come one you can’t wreck a guy after, that racecar was clean.”
Daugherty added, “Ricky don’t play. When that Olive Branch, Mississippi comes out.”
