NASCAR results from Watkins Glen International
Today, the NASCAR Cup Series unloads in Watkins Glen, New York. The 2.45-mile of Watkins Glen International is set to host the Go Bowling at The Glen. It’s the first Cup race at the track in 2 years and a sold out crowd welcomes them back.

Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell were both handed L1 penalties ahead of this race. Their crew chiefs were ejected and handed a $25,000 fine. Those drivers will be coming from the tail of the field.

Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 20 (1-20/90)
Green flag, Logano and Keselowski run side by side into turn one. Keselowski leads into turn two.
Lap 2, Ryan Newman goes for a spin. The entire field splits him as he sits in the middle of the track, no caution.
Lap 7, Keselowski leads Logano by a car length. Keselowski is loose and chasing the car. Kyle Larson has joined the battle. Truex Jr is closing on all three of them.
Lap 10, Brad Keselowski locks up and spins in turn six! No caution as he re-enters in 6th.
Competition caution
Lap 11, the competition caution is out as Logano takes over the lead.
Keselowski is the only car in the top 10 to head for the pit lane.
Green, Logano and Larson run near even into turn one. Larson gets loose over the curb out of turn one and Logano holds the lead into turn two.
3 to go in stage one, many hit the pit lane.
2 to go, Martin Truex Jr is the last to pit. Larson has a look on Logano into turn one but can’t take the lead.

Stage 2 – Report
Laps: 20 (21-40/90)
The leaders hit the pit lane. Kurt Busch is off first with fuel only, Logano is off 2nd with four tires. Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Martin Truex Jr line up on the front row as Logano restarts 16th.
Green flag on stage two, Briscoe comes from row two to make it three wide for the lead into turn one. Martin Truex Jr leads into turn two.
Lap 25, Ryan Blaney spins through the bus stop but keeps it rolling. James Davison is stopped in turn six and the caution is out.
Green, Martin Truex Jr leads as Briscoe spins the tires. Harvick takes over 2nd.
Lap 31, Chase Elliott hits the pit lane with flat spots on the tires.
4 to go in stage two, Truex Jr leads Christopher Bell by 1.7 seconds. Bell has charged from the back to the front.
3 to go in stage two, Bubba Wallace pits from just outside the top 10.

Stage 3 – Report

Most of the leaders stay out. Hamlin is the first car to pit from 8th.
Green flag on stage three, Truex Jr leads Bell.
Lap 47, Bell has a run on Truex Jr off turn 6. He dives to the inside of turn 7. Larson has a run on both of them down the front stretch, Bell throws a block. Truex Jr holds the lead into turn 1.
Lap 54, Erik Jones spins in turn five, no caution.
Lap 55, Larson looks inside of Bell for 2nd in turn one. Contact as Bell pinches him, Bell is around!
Lap 56, Keselowski locks up into turn one. He slides backwards into the corner and clips Joey Logano in the process. Both the Team Penske cars spin, no caution.
Lap 58, Larson and Truex Jr hit the pit lane under green. Larson wins the race to the pit exit!
Lap 65
Lap 65, Larson cycles back to the lead. Truex Jr trails by 1 second.
15 to go, Larson leads Truex Jr by 3.8 seconds. Chase Elliott is closing on both of them.
10 to go, Elliott is on the bumper of Truex Jr for 2nd. He looks inside into the bus stop but can’t make the pass.
9 to go, Elliott dives to the inside once again in the bus stop. He outbrakes him and takes 2nd away. Larson leads by 5.4 seconds.
5 to go, Larson leads Elliott by 5 seconds. Larson works heavy lap traffic.
3 to go, Larson slices through lap traffic but Elliott has closed to within 3 seconds.
1 to go, Larson leads by 2.3 seconds. Elliott is running out of time.
