Chase Elliott who was born in 1995 is taking over for Jeff Gordon in 2016. Big shoes to fill as Chase Elliott will be taking over for one of the most successful NASCAR drivers in the history of the sports.
Jeff Gordon drove the No. 24 Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports in 23 full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series seasons. He started and finished with the Hendrick Motorsports racing team.
Jeff Gordon was a 6 time Southern 500 winner, 5 time Brickyard 400 winner, 3 time Daytona 500 winner, 3 time Coca-Cola 600 winner and 3 time All-Star race winner. He also won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship 4 times.
Chase Elliott will now be driving the #24 Hendrick Motorsports car as Jeff Gordon heads to the announcers booth part time. Chase Elliott is the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bill Elliott.
Chase Elliott won the 2014 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. He was also named the most popular driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series in 2014 and again during the 2015 racing season.
On Monday, 3M took to Twitter from the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland to unveil its paint scheme that will adorn Chase Elliott’s No. 24 Chevrolet SS in 2016.
