Fast & Furious 1995 Volkswagen Jetta Heads to Barrett Jackson Auction
Jesse’s Fast and Furious Volkswagen Jetta is heading to Barrett Jackson. The Furious car will go up for sale with no reserve at the Scottsdale, Arizona show. The auction will take place January 23-31. The car will run across the auction block on January 28th, 2016.
This is a real piece of automotive history. The Jetta is signed by Paul Walker. The Fast & Furious franchise went through the roof following this original film.
This 1995 Jetta driven by Jesse was from ‘the good one’. The original ‘The Fast and the Furious’ was real and made for automotive enthusiasts by director Rob Cohen. Car stunts, driving, NOPI drag racing events and even cars blowing up, it was all real.
The later films grabbed a different director who had no issue making complete CGI nonsense. The films following were aimed at the audience of children, mass appeal and action junkies who couldn’t tell the difference or didn’t care.
For the most part, car guys like myself lost interest in the Fast and Furious films following the original motion picture. The later Furious films were not aimed at the car guy audience like the first film was. So, you can expect this car to go for some 6 figures or more at Barrett Jackson.
The 1995 VW Jetta has one minor difference from the original. This one has brakes. In the movie car Jesse lost this car in a pink slip race, then ran off into the desert. However, it’s possible he just couldn’t stop. The car did not have front brake calipers installed in The Fast and the Furious film, as you can see in one of the photos below. Since being featured in the movie, front brake calipers have been installed.
The Fast and the Furious Volkswagen Jetta will be known as lot #7002. Jesse’s Jetta was used in the filming of the original “Fast and Furious” movie.
Jesse’s Jetta is now owned by Frankie Muniz of TV, movie, music and racing fame. The Furious Jetta is still like it was when the movie was filmed. The car has made several appearances over the years to help promote the movie franchise.
The 1995 Jetta is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with automatic transmission. The car is set up with custom stereo that incorporates a Playstation 2 inside the car.
The Fast and Furious Jetta is a piece of movie history, this car is signed by actor Paul Walker, Chad Lindberg (who played “Jesse”) and director Rob Cohen.
The 1995 Volkswagen Jetta from the Fast and Furious film will be sold at approximately 7pm on Thursday January 28th, 2016.
