Part from Joey Logano’s car confiscated by NASCAR

During today’s race, NASCAR took a rear suspension part from Joey Logano and Team Penske

Joey Logano’s playoff hopes took a big hit Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Logano entered the day trailing Matt Kenseth by seven points for the final position in the 16-driver field, but that figure jumped to more than 40 points behind during a difficult race for the No. 22 Team Penske squad.

Logano was running outside the top 15 much of the afternoon, but then fell much further following trouble on the track. Smoke trailing from his Ford necessitated a trip down pit road, and ultimately a visit into the garage.

He returned to the track on Lap 210, 33 laps down and in 37th place.

Additionally, NASCAR officials confiscated a rear suspension part from the team.

Why was it confiscated?

That’s my question. Was it confiscated to test for safety reasons? Or was it an illegal modification?

We will find out on Tuesday or Wednesday when NASCAR hands out their weekly round of penalties.
