Dale Earnhardt Jr talks about his fast approaching final race

Dale Earnhardt Jr: “I’m going to break down at any minute.”

Only two races remain for Dale Earnhardt Jr. In 7 days, Dale Earnhardt Jr’s full-time NASCAR career will come to an end.

Phoenix and Homestead, that’s it. In a few hours, Phoenix will be over then it’s down to just one.

It’s setting in for NASCAR’s most popular driver…

“I feel like I almost need to apologize,” Dale Earnhardt Jr predicts upcoming emotions from the media center at Phoenix Raceway. “Because, I got a pregnant wife, I’m retiring and I just feel like I’m going to break down at any minute.”

“I feel like every answer that I have, has some sort of sad undertones. It’s starting to really sink in.”

“I hadn’t felt much. I went through Talladega, that was an emotional weekend. Regardless of how many races were left in the year.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr finished 7th at Talladega. He was in the running late in the race after avoiding multiple crashes. However, he suffered damage to the front splitter from one the the Talladega pileups.

Man, it’s just a week away.

“After Texas, I went huntin’ for a couple days. I didn’t have to think about it too much. I got here and I’m like, ‘Man, it’s just a week away.’ I’m not sure that I’m just ready to be going through all that. The emotion that I’ll have at Homestead.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr finished 35th at Texas. They busted a hub on the front end. He was forced to the garage area and later returned after fixing the mechanical failure.

Homestead’s just gunna be like the cork coming out of the bottle.

“I hope that I can handle it well. But, it’s definitely going to be interesting to see how that feels. Amy, being pregnant, she’s tearing up at the drop of a hat. All these videos have been incredible.”

“It’s more than you can process. I’m sure that Homestead’s just gunna be like the cork coming out of the bottle. I’m lucky that Amy’s gunna be there. I’m lucky that my family’s going to be there.”

“I hope that you guys don’t mind it being a little bit heavy.”

In a few hours, the green flag drops at Phoenix International Raceway. Dale Earnhardt jr will start 14th.
