Martin Truex Jr on Myers Brothers Award: “I didn’t see that coming”

Today, Martin Truex Jr and Sherry pollex were presented with the Myers Brothers Award

As Martin Truex Jr drove off to his best NASCAR Cup Series ever, claiming the title. His girlfriend, Sherry Pollex fought off cancer. “The couple have displayed tremendous strength and concern for others while Pollex has fought her own personal battle with ovarian cancer,” the award announcement stated.

The Martin Truex Jr Foundation hosted the 8th Annual Catwalk for a Cause. It’s a runway show that’s hosted inside an airport hanger at an undisclosed location. It brought out the stars including; Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Aric Almirola, Erik Jones, Ty Dillon, Jamie McMurray, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Joey Logano, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, Marcus Smith and so many more.

The 2017 Catwalk for a Cause event raised $550,000 for children being treated at Levine Children’s Hospital.

In addition, the Martin Truex Jr Foundation has hosted many other events to raise awareness and funding for causes. Today, they accepted the award.

“I didn’t see that coming,” Martin Truex Jr stepped on stage to accept the award.

“I didn’t either. You know I try really hard not to cry.,” Sherry Pollex mirror’s the thought. “It’s been a crazy year for both of us. Personally and professionally, with my cancer.”

Fighting back tears, Sherry couldn’t speak. Martin Truex Jr stepped in to save her.

“Don’t do that because then I’m going to cry. This is an incredible honor to receive this award. Sherri and I, we’ve been very fortunate in our lives. To have all the things we needed. Great families, great parents that raised us right and thought us right from wrong.”

“They probably deserve a lot of the credit for us being who we are and being able to give back and help people. We’ve learned so much from past champions. Everyone in the sport is willing to give back and willing to give their time to great causes.”

“We don’t deserve all the credit. I think we’ve learned a lot of lesson from the people in this room. Definitely lucky to be able to give our time to great causes.”

“I’m so proud of her for her fight and her battle. And for her to be able to pull through and get through and at the same time, still willing to help others and give her time.”

“Just really proud of this. So, thank you all very much.”
