Michigan International Speedway: NASCAR TV ratings up over last year

For the second time all season, NASCAR TV ratings were up

Michigan International Speedway saw a spike in the TV ratings over the week. That marks the second time all season that ratings saw an increase from the 2017 racing season.

What areas of the country have the most NASCAR viewers? Greensboro, NC (8.0), Greenville, SC (6.4) and Indianapolis, IN (5.8).

What is a tv rating? It’s a percentage of all TV viewers. 8% of the people watching TV in Greensboro, NC were watching the NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway. Greensboro, North Carolina sits on the outside of Charlotte, NC. The population in 2016 was 287,027.

The only other 2018 event all season to see a jump was The Clash at Daytona back in February. The Clash is a pre-season race featuring all the pole sitters, previous season playoff contenders and former Daytona 500 pole sitters.

Clint Bowyer drove to victory lane at Michigan International Speedway. With two new tires following a pit stop, Bowyer held off teammate Kevin Harvick who was on 4 fresh tires. The race was called early due to weather.

Note: Weather races and races that saw a jump from FS1 to Fox and other non-comparable channels were excluded from this comparison. Head to head events on similar channels without weather delays were used in this report for a fair comparison.
